    Renewal Suprize

Just got my renewal from TD as well. Same story as j2 - nothing changed at all - 29 y/o full M for 2 years, licensed since 2010. Bike is a 2002 Vulcan 800. Went from 1500 last year to 2270 this year. A little over 50% increase! Did a little searching - riders plus seems like a good option...

Paying HST on a used bike???

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone has pointed out one very important thing. It is my understanding that the MTO charges you based on whichever is greater between the purchase price and the book value - ie. you can say you paid $1 for it but if their system says it's worth $5,000...

    Continuous Coverage?

I'm not sure how they did it, but GP bikes already put it in my name Fit Unplated (no need for a safety either apparently). It's my understanding that once I have insurance I then go into the MTO at that point and transfer the plates over from the old bike.

    Continuous Coverage?

Thanks for the help all. I took all this into account, and called state farm today to see what penalties I would incur from cancelling early (in order to go over to TD). The agent said - ok, but would you give me a chance to quote on your car insurance? If you do both, your full coverage...

    Continuous Coverage?

Good point - that way it would be insured for theft while not riding as well.

    Continuous Coverage?

Hey all, I've searched through the forum and can't find an answer for the situation I'm in. I've had insurance on my 1982 xs400 with State farm for two years. The renewal date is May 15th. I sold that bike last night, it is now gone. I've got a new bike (2002 Vulcan 800 Classic), in my...

    1982 XS400 Heritage Special - $1300

Hi All, Up for sale is my 1982 XS400 Heritage Special. I'm looking for $1,300 for it. It has about $1,500 worth of new parts in the past 2 years, and is currently plated and insured so should have no trouble with the safety. Please visit my ad here...

    Show this weekend, which ride??

Awesome - thanks for the replies guys! I'll take a closer look at both at the show (GP is going to be there, so there should be a Triumph or two) to see which one jumps out as more 'me'. Thanks for the help, Yusiro

    Show this weekend, which ride??

Hey all, Spring has (almost) sprung and I'm thinking about getting onto a new bike this year. I figured the show this weekend would be as good a time as any to pick one up. Currently I'm riding a 1982 Yamaha XS400, which I have been on the past 2 years. I'm looking at a mid-sized cruiser, in...

Old Bike - Who will insure?

Thanks for the replies! I'll try popping a message to Dalton Timmis - I assume their contact info is on here? I don't know what would be on my abstract - I've had my car license since 16, took both the drivers course and the motorcycle course, and have never even had so much as a parking...

Old Bike - Who will insure?

Hey all, First off - yes, I've read through the tables, I'm hoping you guys could give a happier answer. Currently I have my 1982 yamaha xs400 insured with Jevco through JR Duffy. However, I just received my renewal today in the mail and my policy went from 1037/year to 1447/year with the...

Question on plating a bike ive had for a few years

Thank you Rob - that's all I needed to know (without being made to feel like an idiot by the MTO). Much appreciated!

Question on plating a bike ive had for a few years

Sorry to hijack a thread, but I have a question very similar to this one. I bought my bike last year with no intent of insuring it or riding until this year (i'll be 25 in two weeks). When I registered the vehicle it was registered with "UNPLATED" on the ownership, not UNFIT. I, unlike the...

Anyone know somebody that will come safety my bike??

I was discussing this very thing with a Mechanic about a month ago. The reason why it has to be at the shop, is that the ministry will come to the shop to make sure that it has the proper equipment for the job (one specific mention was a headlight aiming test). Without coming to the shop to...
