Motorcycle Touring Workout Tips (From A Guy In A Mankini)

I definitely do get them... More frequently when 2-up, and right hip most often (I'm one of the weirdos that always keep left foot on the peg at stop lights...). I guess leg position, and bearing weight at that odd angle triggers it... I find standing on pegs for few seconds helps when it...

    GPS options?

Years ago, I relied on GPS unit (ViaMichelin). Later, switched to phone apps, settled on OSMand. Still use it a lot, but definitely prefer GoogleMaps. GoogleMaps saved me many hours by routing around construction zones. What I do now (mot commonly), I use GoogleMaps for days when I have to make...

    Been Around Superior?

Did the ride few years ago (clockwise as well). Temperature dropped like a rock just before Duluth. From there to Canadian border, fog was dense at times, and weather was a bit unpredictable. Duluth can be tricky for accommodations, especially during weekends. I would recommend booking it ahead...

Hi - are you still providing quotes? I sent an email couple of days ago, didn't get a reply... Should I phone instead?

Shipping to Rome (my research + top 3 options = plz help me?)

I could definitely use some of these... I usually do route planning in GPX... Did anyone find a decent alternative to shipping by air - any luck with ocean lines? For me, timing is flexible - if it saves me some $ I can wait a month or two for shipping... Good to know. I got lucky and scored...

Shipping to Rome (my research + top 3 options = plz help me?)

Italy and Switzerland are on my list, in not too distant future... (Austria too). I am just starting with my planning and options. I plan to leave my bike there, outside Schengen zone, and use it when I visit (already have connections for storage, which helps a lot). I also wonder how our...

A tail of caution, 195? Ford Coupe backed into me and knocked me off my bike.

I didn't have as much luck - hick backed into my bike on street, promised to pay for damage, then stopped responding after couple of days... I should have been a jerk, and just call cops... I'm trying to be a better person, and not be bitter about it, after being more than fair to that hick...

    Airhawk Dual Sport Air Cushion

I can only speak from my own experience - it's been great for me, 3rd season and no issues... 9-hour days in the seat, back-to-back... For a bit of time, I had a mesh cover over entire seat including the cushion - this was more for the aesthetics... After couple of hours, I started feeling the...

    Side Mounted Cameras

I'm using Drift Ghost XL version, it legitimately gets 9 hours of recording on single charge... Footage and stabilization is not really close to GoPro quality, but it's a tradeoff... They've recently released Pro version, don't know much about it...

    Airhawk Dual Sport Air Cushion

@Gary - we must have crossed paths somewhere - I just came back from Gap and the area... 3200+ km for me... I'm using Airhawk knockoff from Amazon, this is 3rd season with it - it didn't lose any air, and still works great. For me, it's a must at this point...

    Carrying a camera (SLR/Mirrorless) - vibration issues?

Same as @MacDoc - MFT (GX1) in tank bag, with very little padding - never had an issue... It helps that GX1 is 10 years old now, even if something happens to it, I won't lose sleep over it... I do keep a small dry bag in the tank bag - when it starts to rain, I throw camera in there, just in...

    China

Looks original to me. Padding he's pulling out - there's decent amount of oily residue, so helmet probably was worn for some time, and perhaps not cared for too much... That alone doesn't excuse the wear and tear... but that guy is annoying to listen to :)

Selling my bike. Buyer test ride

I totally agree - my idea was a 2-step process: First a video and visual inspection in the driveway - if buyer is still interested, next step is to give a deposit, comeback with full amount in hand, and insurance in his name... With that, he can go for a test ride... It could work, especially in...

Selling my bike. Buyer test ride

Spitballing here; if you have GoPro or helmet cam, you can record your own test ride (start with the potential buyer in the view, so no doubt on authenticity or date of recording)... Have decent sound recording as well, so you can hear all gear changes, engine sounds... Test acceleration...

    Nexx Modular Helmet

I've been using LS2 FF686 modular for couple of years now... This was one of their early (at least in Canada) modular models, and first modular for me... There are some minor issues (mainly fit and finish, nothing functional)... For the money, it's great. I wanted modular purely for easier...

    Favorite Bike color schema

Black is easy to live with (fix scratches with a Sharpie), looks OK on larger bikes, small bikes, not so much... I like early R1/R6 blue - something about that particular shade of blue, with some minimal white graphics...
