Choosing a project bike to work on with my daughter

We are planning some riding off road experience for her this year for sure with some of the great options that thread helped me find. In my mind a bike would take the better part of the season to get up and running or at least her save up the needed money for insurance / gear etc. So maybe more...

Choosing a project bike to work on with my daughter

Great stuff to get me started. Thanks everyone so far. I guess in my mind I had this 'barn find' and strip it down / rebuild. But maaaaybe that is a lot to chew on my first go-round.

Choosing a project bike to work on with my daughter

Looking for some guidance as even getting my bearings is daunting. My daughter is 16 and interested in riding and we wanted to use this opportunity to find an old bike (70's?) and fix it up thereby learning the mechanical basics as well as a daddy/daughter thing. I'm pretty confident and...

Daughter wants to ride, where to start?

My daughter has always loved to ride as a passenger on my bike. Now she is 16 and wants to look at a street bike for herself. So my question is, if you could only take one course (not including an M1X course) to intro a new rider would you take a day of dirt bike lessons or a day of trials bike...

Trying to remember the name of a riding school...

A few years ago, I remember reading about a dirt bike school that had a tight dirt track and bikes with semi slick tires. It was in eastern US (Virgina maybe?). The point was to learn to feel the slide and manage / control it. I can't seem to conjure up the google-fu to find it again. Any ideas?

    Motorcycle through front door?

I wanted to get my bike in through my front door to do some maintenance over the winter. My bars are 33" across, but my door is 30". Soooo.... how hard is it to turn the bars and wiggle it through? Or even have two people lift the front (bike isn't too heavy) and muscle it through? I'm asking...

Return to stock or sell with mods

Thinking about selling my bike in the spring, which has quite a few high dollar factory upgrades not normally available. Since this is my first motorcycle sale (normally trade in) I'm wondering if I should be returning to stock before selling and trying to sell the parts separately? I know the...

Help me with tire sizing for my wife's DR200

My wife bought an '07 DR200 which has the original tires. (!) There are a set of Shinko 705 (dual sport) tires that seem perfect but when I use the original sizes (knobbies) I can't find many tires. Will the Shinkos work? Stock are: Front - 70/100-21 44P Rear - 100/90-18 56P And the Shinkos I...
