The Virago 1100 is an awesome bike. You won't regret it. I loved mine. TONS of torque, great fun.

Started riding in March, then on June 30th I picked up my new BMW F800 and put 13000kms on it so far in 2.5mth :) Aiming for 20K by december. Will try to ride it until the snow comes and stays. It would be cool to know what kind of winter we will have.... If we're getting hit with a mild one...

Has the person ridden as a passenger before?

I'll try to make it as well :). Never done any group riding. Other than together with the wife with her honda rebel, slow enough in our neighborhood that my cooling fan keeps coming up:)

Don't get me wrong, the K1300 is a very very fast bike but the difference between that and the f800r was nowhere near as drastic as I had hoped. I had it pegged open i first and second and off the redline..... In a controlled environment of course :)

I need to share/vent. It's only been 2.5 months since I got my brand spanking new F800R BMW. Since June 30th, I've clocked 8800Kms, some with 2 up touring and a solo 3300Km tour to North Carolina, going through the Blue Ridge, into Tennessee and all over the place in WV and PA. Here's my issue...

Solved. Got a BMW F800R. So far after 500kms it's comfortable. It has character so I'm happy.

I might look at the 650 as well but I would like to try one of course. I don't really want to downsize displacement as 90% of the time it would be 2 up riding with the wife.

I don't think it's the size of the bike, but the posture. Interestingly my 250 virago wasn't as bad as the 1100. On that my butt went numb and my tailbone gave up after one hour. I looked at a bandit today at the dealer and didn't like it at all. I thought it was small for a 1200 bike. The...

I know what you mean about the windshield. I had it one for a week, kept playing with the height and angle, then took it off. The buffeting and noise was horrible. At a certain angle, it also introduced a nice wobble at 110 km/h.
