The symptom I see is hard or no start after its been sitting a couple of weeks. Battery is a likely culprit and so I have a new one in and a voltmeter installed. It runs flawlessly otherwise. I had a stator go on my beemer and it wouldn't charge, which makes sense. Not charging is a different...
Hmm. These are the same symptoms I'm seeing on the wife's CBF. I've been keeping it on a tender because it won't start if it sits for a couple of weeks. When ridden daily, everything seems to be fine.
I'm a bit concerned now because we leave to do the trans-lab highway at 6 am tomorrow...
I don't mind helping out, if you want to do it today. I have a No-Mar Tire changer in my garage. If you remove/mount the wheels, I'll install and balance. Pm me to see if our schedules align.
200,000+ touring kms on chain drive.
Lube every 800-1000 kms OR after every ride in the rain.
Never clean.
Adjust as required.
Chains last 30,000+ kms and look like crap.
Sprocket changes every 2 chains.
Carry on...
Show is postponed till July 9th due to heavy rain.
I'm in East York, but camping this weekend (as soon as this rain lets up). A bicycle seat guy would have all the skills, for sure. A seat is a seat...
That's a really interesting idea - I'm going to noodle on that.
Ideally I'm looking for both. The solution doesn't have to be pretty, but I'd like it to be elegant. The rest of the bike is FAR from perfect, so I'm not looking for extreme craftsmanship, just a neat solution that isn't going to...
I have a longstanding project I'm looking to get finished, but one outstanding thing is the seat. I'm not looking for anything complicated, but the seat has to be removeable or lift somehow because the bolts for the seat pan are right where the seat should be.
Anyone have any recommendations?
I need to update my bike list - the DL is gone, and the GS was waiting on parts. The good thing about that area is that at higher elevations, it's quite cool. I started and finished my days at lower elevations and spent the hottest part of the days at higher elevations.
I'm in the process of doing the exact same maintenance on my R1200GS LC. I got some Loc-Tite moly assembly paste from Glen at Flying Squirrel. Cost me $25 for a little tub, and it's the right stuff.
Am I the only one bemoaning the loss of the v4?
That motor was amazing. If they had stuffed a v4 into it and kept the Venture heritage, they would have been on the right track. With the demise of Victory, there's room for a futuristic, fully capable tourer... putting a big air-cooled twin in...
#@$* it, I'm headed out tomorrow for a wander. 4 or 5 days south-ish into PA / WV with no firm plans. Medium to brisk pace, aiming for back roads and twisties.
Kickstand up @ 5 am.
