Wanted to update: Got insured with state farm today: ~$1600/year, basic liability 2003 virago 250cc 21 years old, clean record, male, m1 for about a month.

Well, that's encouraging. Did you have any other vehicles insured, and were you insured as a primary? (I'd be a primary with no car) Was that when you were less than one year since getting your m1?

How do you know this? Have you been in my position(age/recent licencee) recently? Desjardin wouldnt quote me when I called them earlier, since I havent completed the safety course yet. I told them to ballpark it, assuming I had, told me that wasn't possible. Guess I could call again sometime...

Are you asking about the drop? When I called ridersplus, my quote was like $4100 and if I had my license for a year it would be like $2300 or something like that. I was also told that the m2 doesn't change the quote(at least for that company) since they assume you're gonna get the m2.

I'm 21, full G (g1 over 5 years ago), just got the m1 and taking the safety course in like a week. No tickets or collisions in my life, and my cheapest quote on liability-only for a 250cc cruiser was a bit over $4000! This seems crazy, the bike isn't even worth that much. How are you younger...
