My fav 500 colour schemes are green, plasma blue or whatever you call the one in Paulhv1's pics, and the black from '05. I passed up a smoking deal on a mint black '05 last month after listening to so many people here say it was overpriced. Man do I ever regret it. Big time.
Anyone here like...
Thanks to everyone for all the replies. I went to look at the bike today, and I think the green is actually pretty awesome on the 500. Most of the pics on the net don't seem to capture the green very well. Cheap cameras maybe.
I realize it's a bit odd to ask for opinions on a colour, since taste is such a subjective thing, but I can't seem to make up my mind on the '06 Ninja 500R's in Kawi Green that I have seen on Kijiji. Sometimes I think it's a great colour for the bike, and other times I think it makes the 500R...
Thanks guys. That's the other thing I forgot to ask, which you mentioned knowledge... I weigh exactly 200lbs. Not sure how well the bike will pull with that kind of weight on it.
Can anyone who has driven both offer any noticeable shortcomings of the older generation Ninja 250 vs the new one? Aside from the obvious cosmetic differences.
I have read that the older 250 is actually better for highway riding dude to it's powerband being higher up, and the newer being better...
Necro... I had my heart set on a naked SV last year, but after going for a test drive on one, found that the throttle was way too jerky. It was either ON of OFF. And driving in first gear in a parking lot was a pain. This was my VERY limited experience. I personally would prefer a...
I am thinking the 650R might be a decent option after all, as people are asking only several hundred less, and sometimes the same price for their 500's lol.
What about the fact that the 2009's and later have rubber engine dampers which are supposed to reduce vibration. Is this upgrade REALLY...
Thanks for the link Matt. I think I would prefer something with lower kilometres though, as I will be riding it a TON, and when I go to upgrade, it seems far easier to sell a bike with lower km's.
I am shocked that people still ask so much for their Ninja 500's though. I mean, there aren't...
The guy has some people coming today to look. With my luck it will be sold today. It's an hour and a half away and due to my work schedule the soonest I could have been there was Sunday. Pretty disappointing... I was thrilled about it.
Ah well. I'll cross my fingers and hope that it's still...
Wow. Really? $2000 is that bad for a '98 with under 10K on it? I thought it was pretty good, since the bike is mint. owner said previous owner stored it for a while.
Then again, I cold get a Ninja 500 for just a bit more. Liquid cooled, more hp, etc... From what I have read the Ninja is a...
Thanks guys. How does one gauge the health of a seal? I mean, I would assume I am just looking to make sure the rubber is not dried and cracking. Right? Just make sure it is still supple and pliable?
And what about brake pads? How much should be left on the pad and how can you tell a pad...
I found a good deal on a '95 GS500 with 10,000km on it. It's cosmetically mint. No rust even on the exhaust pipe underneath, where these bikes seem to get it first. Safetied, UVIP, etc..
Would the low km's for the year of the bike worry you?
Thanks!
How does the price sound? $3500 for an '06 650R, 20K, pretty much brand new tires, no damage. UVIP included, but.... uncertified. That part bothers me.
That's kind of what I'm afraid of. Have have been researching first bikes to death for about 10 months now, and it looks like it's split about 50/50 when asking people if a 650 is too much for a total beginner. Literally the only bike I have ever actually rode was the tiny 125 during the...
Man, this first bike decision is driving me nuts!!
I came across a good deal on an '06 650R, but was wondering if there's anything about this generation of 650R that is already noticeably outdated or inferior to the newer generations, as we are on generation 3 now apparently.
It's an '06 with...
Sorry to hear about the damage to your bike MadPoet, and I completely agree with you. If I bought a minty bike, and dropped it, I would be livid. Also, I have never been one for flash. I just want something reliable, first and foremost, and something that looks half decent. To my eyes...
Sounds like that's exactly what I'm looking for. Definitely handy to have for your records. I think I'll just go in person as well, since the office is right down the street from me.
Thanks Conundrum!
