Bah, should have rode today, woke up too late. The roads here are impeccable on account of the rain last night and temp is nice to boot. The only redeeming thing would be if I see a bunch of newly laid salt on the way home :D
Don't use a heat gun unless you want a nice patch of untextured gloss. The chalky look makes it seem like there is residue since the surrounding is a darker black; clean it off with varsol or wd40. Further to that I would wax the entire area with a car wax / light compound. If all else fails...
Man i need a beater bike, or need to start caring less. Lots of you are OK with going out in this sloppy salty mess. Screw the temperature, the roads are gross. Bike aside, I don't feel like washing my gear each time I ride for a couple hours. Yes angry I can't ride.
Very nice, I am jealous. The roads are dry here but just completely white with wet patches, I still ain't riding on that. Need a solid above zero rain shower to clear the salt and I would go for a boot. Forecast is not looking too hopeful again either. I'm really getting the itch.
Yeah no way I'd ride today, looking at the forecast I am done for some time as well. I think I need a beater bike that I can get salty and not care about. I stuck some fuel preserve in the tank on the ride home just in case this forecast keeps up. Was out at Square One with the lady last...
Nice brisk ride in this morning and good clear roads with no standing water or salt - a couple snowflakes falling but forecast said it should be pretty clear. Hope so!
I was out tonight for an hour...save for salt being laid and having to avoid certain streets, it was great. Winter jacket fits snugly under the gear and does a great job keeping the heat in. I'll take this over a scorching hot day where I can't take enough off to stay comfortable
It better rain today or I am going to really regret not riding in. For once it was not a humid morning and the roads were completely dry, no dew / condensation on the cars.
Planned to ride today, woke up and drove home from the GF house to mine at 6am. All the brine laid down on the main streets soaked up the morning dew. Side streets perfectly dry. Needless to say I did not ride. I hate the city and their over anticipative crap when the temps are not yet even...
Good to see a number of others that still plan to ride - I will be doing my 1-2x a week commute to work + weekend rides as I have been all summer until the salt starts. Also plan to ride the trails at least a few more times before they close up. I'll street ride in winter as well if there's...
Yellow DRZ400 with SM setup yesterday along Guelph St. in Georgetown around 5pm. Have seen you multiple times. Send me a PM if you see this, looking for other DS riders.
To the gent squiddin it on the grey 1000RR down Main st. in Brampton that had been previously dropped: the first little wheelie I provoked you to do was risky and cool, the next 5 were a bit unneccessary. No I wasn't going to have a contest with you on a cop infested road. Ride safe
You are supposed to inform them of address change. I was previously going to school in Ottawa and told my insurance company so. My auto rates went down to well under half that of the rates in Brampton. I kept myself insured in Ottawa year round even though I came back to Toronto for the...
6'1 220 is not that bad, but you will probably have to re-spring to achieve proper sag or at least put more preload on the rear spring. A 400 or 450 KTM / Yamaha will be faster than you'll ever need off road and then some, and perfectly adequate for hooliganism and power wheelies on road...
Haha I thought mentioning sub-35 would open a lot more doors as I'm quite a bit younger than that, guess not. Wasn't trying to discriminate just wanted to associate with people of similar maturity level / interests. Passed by a big group of bikes with multiple SM's meeting up at Mclaughlin /...
Nice, I am in south Brampton as well. I'll probably pass on the Bethany ride, not sure I am ready to do a 200km offroad trip at the beginning of my first season. Sounds fun though! Know of any local trails / pits to mess around in?
Cool, what trails do you ride in Simcoe and which do you...
Noobie, younger rider here with a KTM, blue plated set up for dual sport. Just got an OFTR membership and am planning to ride Simcoe Forest this year (either trailering up or possibly riding up) as well as random evening / weekend street rides around town and maybe the Ganny once or twice. I...
