Were you there (BMW open house)?

It's good to hear that their delivery scheduling is accurate as possible. But I still come back to the priced from thing and model allocation. I inquired about a R1200RS base model a few years ago, and was told that none were coming in/no allocation to Canada. So that means they really AREN'T...

    Thoughts on the Honda NT1100....

I wonder how many of the people considering or likely to buy a current model BMW cross-shop brands. There are certainly options in each category that will perform much the same for much less.

I can't imagine. My poor old overworked brain cannot comprehend that price.

    Thoughts on the Honda NT1100....

I do remember the XR1000. It had actual XR type heads with the exhaust ports both coming out in front. Harley f'd that up by putting it in their cheapest sportster package, the XLX61 which was an ironhead but set the style for the upcoming 883. I remember the XR not selling at all too, but both...

    Thoughts on the Honda NT1100....

I see your point, but my 1st. street bike was an 81 Honda CB400T that mimicked the appearance of the CBF's of the day. The little 3 valve per cylinder twin was unquestionably boring in it's own right, but I rode the wheels off it, and beat the HELL out of it trying to keep up with a buddy on his...

    Thoughts on the Honda NT1100....

I have heard them at full flight and agree entirely. The XR750 is the coolest thing ever made. Purposeful, simple, muscular but refined. Absolutely brilliant. I have lusted after the Storz XR conversions since the 90's. It's a sh#t-ton of money to build one, and then you have a bike that you...

    Thoughts on the Honda NT1100....

I had the same attraction to that bike, then the same sort of letdown. I was hoping for a modern XLCR, but it sure wasn't that.

    Thoughts on the Honda NT1100....

I really, really wanted one last winter. Then they brought the only the DCT version in, so I was a little disappointed. Then I saw it at the February bike show....It was a bit taller than I expected and A LOT wider than I wanted. I lost interest after seeing it in person. It wasn't enough of an...

Were you there (BMW open house)?

If you happen to fancy a BMW motorcycle with only it's standard equipment, as in base model you will never find one at any dealership in Canada. Sure you could plan ahead by months and take them up on the notion of ordering one with a vague and always subject to change (wait, wait some more)...

What's the weakest link in stopping you from riding longer?

They offered the injection you mention, and it's still about the same price, but more frequent. It's effectiveness is also finite apparently. He didn't think it would be a good solution for me. As expected he said I was a bit young for replacement, and that OHIP doesn't like scoping anymore. I...

Fav spots to stop for a quick bite during a ride?

I'm partial to the various locks on the Trent Severyn and Rideau Canal. Glen Ross is small and out of the way. If there's a boat coming the attendant will let you open/close the lock as it's manual, and the Peterborough elevator is cool. I can't remember which particular ones on the rideau...

What's the weakest link in stopping you from riding longer?

My knees are my limiting body part. I have osteoarthritis in my knees. My left knee was scoped 10 years ago and it has limited range of motion and starts to ache after a while, and my right knee became supper painful this year to the point that it would wake me up. Since January I was sleeping...

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

I love those 80's inline 4's, but he's way overpriced for everything on that ad. Any mods made to the GS1000 devalues it to collectors. I understand replacing sacked out, old suspension components. The aftermarket pipes on the GS and CB900F aren't even period correct.

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

Was stopped more than once riding laps around the perimeter of our fields in Pickering when I was a kid. Usually by railway police (CP Rail) strangely enough.

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Glad you're healing, (enough to complain about the condition of the tires on the bike you DIDN'T buy :D). You make a great point about riding/driving on rural roads. People tend to relax, believing that the infrequent passing vehicles, and lack of visible police presence means that there's...

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

If it's a loaded tank, that's A LOT of weight shifting forward and sloshing side to side. A few years ago I was turning left into my laneway on Hwy. 2 in my pick up. I had been watching a county water truck in my rearview gaining on me quickly for a couple km. I put my signal on a long way...

A game of what bike is it.

In 1980 a scrap yard out in Newtonville was selling off WW2 surplus Triumph TRW's in the crate for $1500. If only 15 year old me had some foresight...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

Agreed, they are cool. From what I've read/heard you can't get insurance on them, meaning you can't get a green plate, which mean you can't ride them on OFTR trails or the Ganaraska forest trails. I could be wrong, and frankly I hope I am. The pedal assist mountain bikes are OK on the motorized...

LOL. I saw the link and read the text with the picture below the screen (out of view) and thought, "Well what problem could be THAT big..." and I scrolled down. WHOA!! That is seven ways to Sunday UGLY. Is the guy color blind? How else do you explain an intestinal pink paint job. And exactly...
