    Women in motorcycling

It would be an interesting experience to see a woman enter a motorcycle dealership. The salesman tells them about the nice colours it's available in. The woman responds with screw the colours, tell me about this new ABS system it uses. The expression on the salesman's face would be priceless.

    Harley's new idea

Now that retirement is approaching, my brother is thinking of getting into motorcycle touring. He's never ridden before so I advised him to buy something at or below 500cc to learn on. I talked him out of a Royal Enfield.

Are Toronto private company parking tickets enforceable?

The private companies who issue City tickets don't pay very well, so there is a large turnover. It is likely the person who wrote the ticket no longer works for that company. It is just as likely they work a different shift than the court time and the company didn't want to pay them overtime to...

Going for first resolution in court tomorrow...but.....

If this is a first resolution it's not a trial, but an attempt to resolve it without a trial. There are no witnesses required at this meeting and the Crown will rely on the Officer's report and the witness statements. Based on this, the Crown will probably not offer you much of a deal. If you...

    Harley's new idea

Not a new idea at all. Back in the days when AMF owned HD (the era Harleyphiles refuse to admit existed today) they did the same thing. They were marketed as the "Harley Davidson Lightweights". If memory serves they had street bikes (not trail bikes) in 250cc, 500cc and 750cc models available...

    Mixing oil

For as long as I can remember people have told me not to mix different viscosities in a car engine. I have no idea why. There could be a good reason or it could be an urban legend. A few years back I was riding with some friends. One rider was on a BMW and hadn't used a new washer on the plug...

    Road Tolls coming to Toronto

Just before he called an election in 1971, then Premier Davis cancelled the Spadina Expressway. It was for the same reason Wynne stopped the tolls....vote getting. On the bright side, Wynne has promised Toronto a bigger piece of the fuel tax pie starting in 2021. Like she'll still be Premier in...

    Strike three?

In Toronto, police officers must attend traffic court when scheduled to appear. When they become unavailable due to duty, a form must be faxed to the court office stating they have been excused and the reason why. The form must be signed by a sgt. or above.

Wynne has said no to tolls for the same reason Davis cancelled the Spadina Expressway. Vote buying.

    Motorcycle lift / hoist recommendation

Just a word of caution. If you are going to get a lift (regardless of type) and use it in a garage and you have a windscreen on your bike... Make sure the screen clears the cross beams in the roof the first time you lift it. When you find the special spot, mark the place on the floor with paint...

RE: Parking a Trailer in your driveway - do you need a permit?

Re: Parking a Trailer in your driveway - do you need a permit? As a rule the area between the sidewalk and the curb is the boulevard. It's defined in the HTA as the unused portion of the roadway allowance. If the street were ever to be widened, this is the space that would be used. On occasion...

Police are allowed to make minor changes to tickets after issuance - C of A ruling

The "they" in fact referred to York Region. My fault for being unclear.

What could be the best motor oil?

I noticed you did not tell us what kind of motorcycles you're riding. Some brands are better than others depending on who made your bike. For example, I am riding an older BMW which was built before synthetic oil was available, so synthetic is not recommended. If you go on the builder's website...

RE: Parking a Trailer in your driveway - do you need a permit?

Re: Parking a Trailer in your driveway - do you need a permit? I don't believe there are any restrictions in the City of Toronto. Providing (as you said) it isn't overhanging or obstructing the sidewalk. I see you live in Brampton which may have restrictions.

Police are allowed to make minor changes to tickets after issuance - C of A ruling

As stated earlier, the appeal was initiated by York Region in order to get a definitive ruling regarding what is and is not acceptable in terms or amending tickets. It sounds to me that you want a ruling that is "right" as opposed to what is "legal". What's legal is more or less consistent with...

Police are allowed to make minor changes to tickets after issuance - C of A ruling

Actually they appealed twice. Provincial Offences Act appeals are heard by a Provincial Court judge. If it went to the Court of Appeals, the Prov. Court judge's ruling had to be appealed as well.

Police are allowed to make minor changes to tickets after issuance - C of A ruling

Changing a contract comes under Civil Law, and no you can't change it without the consent of all parties. The Highway Traffic Act trials come under the Provincial Offences Act which is regulatory law.

    2017 moto touring plans

If you're taking US219 from Buffalo, remember to go WEST on I-90 (NY Thruway) towards Erie. I wasted an hour going east and had to pay a toll.
