If you are riding through eastern Kentucky and Tennessee or western Virginia or the Carolinas you are in mountain country.
The number of great rides and great roads through this area are almost endless.
TOTD is a ride that should be on everyone's bucket list but its not the only ride.
I plead guilty to spreading false information.
At one time it was the law that a vehicle with a lien could not have the ownership transferred.
It would appear that is no longer the case.
I don't know why this was changed. It was a good law.
In Ontario the Ministry of Transportation will not transfer ownership if there is a lien on the vehicle.
PERIOD
If a lien is still on the vehicle record you would need a written release from the lienholder which tells the MOT the lien has been removed.
What a lot of people forget is that a motorcycle on idle does not rev the motor enough to keep the generator producing enough electricity to run the engine.
The choke should remain out enough to keep the idle at 1000 rpm at all times.
I found this out the hard way.
As stated earlier, the UVIP will show the lien. It's my understanding it will just show that a lien exists, not the amount (perhaps that has changed).
At any rate why would a buyer jump through hoops just to buy your bike?
Prime motorcycle buying season is fast approaching.
There will be...
When heading to the US southeast I always cross at Buffalo and take US 219 south from Buffalo.
It's an interesting ride with enough twists and turns to make it interesting. There are also some nice little towns in both NY and PA.
By the time 219 peters out you have plenty of other secondary...
I too tour solo.
I have a group of friends who I take weekend trips with (never farther than a few hundred kilometers).
I don't feel comfortable going any longer as it may ruin the friendship.
But for a major tour it's always solo for most of the reasons listed above.
When you have a feeling that its a scam, ask yourself some questions.
Would I do what this guy is doing.
Offer a certified cheque rather than a bank draft.
Would I buy a motorcycle without test riding or seeing it in person first.
The last time I checked around 2010, speed bumps cost the City around $2500 each.
So $2500 to install it, about the same to remove it and another $2500 to do it correctly.
Welcome to Civil Law 101.
Civil court is not guilty until proven innocent, the standard is on the balance of the evidence.
Therefore if you are suing someone there is no such thing as unimportant evidence. You want photos of everything.
It sounds as if the real culprit here is the snow plough...
If the terminal is already crusty and the battery is "deadish" it's a matter of you can do it now or you can do it later.
Come spring you will no doubt going to install a new battery.
Unless you are also going to install new terminal clamps, they will have to be removed from the old battery and...
These are the things I would be comfortable doing myself.
Check all the walls and ceiling for framing. If it exists, great. If not install your own.
Place insulation in the walls including those that are connected to the house. These walls are already insulated to keep heat in the house.
The...
A friend of mine bought one of the first BMW K1200s when they first came out.
There were a large number of design flaws in this bike. They didn't make it unsafe to ride but they did make it a pain for maintenance and repair.
He swore he would never ride or buy a BMW again.
This seems to be a...
I had a surprise waiting for me in my accumulated mail when I got back from vacation in October.
A bill from the 407 stating I had driven on it the same day I was in Colorado.
I sent them a copy of the hotel bill with the same date.
Still waiting to hear back from them, but I'll be damned if I'm...
The road to Tuk is open but not yet finished.
I will wait a few years until it's smoothed out and there are some gas stations on the route.
It's great to say you were first, but your bike is still sitting at KM 285 because of no gas or it fell apart into 12 pieces.
Insurance comes in 3 parts: personal liability, collision and comprehensive.
Personal liability covers you if you are involved in an accident that's your fault or if the other person was not insured. $1 million minimum.
Collision covers the cost of repairing the damage of a collision and...
The value of after market add ons is a lot like beauty. It's value is very much in the eye of the beholder.
I hear about all of these things increasing the resale value of a motorcycle but they don't really.
Unless you can find a buyer who has the exact same taste as you.
