    Old man with a hose

Maybe it's the hopeful, positive outlook guy in me (who I thought was LONG gone) but I thought the same thing. Maybe (hopefully) it was good natured kidding around, and he assumed you'd dry out really quickly. I guess it depends of the look on his face when he did it, and we can never know his...

    Harley new CEO

Exactly!! IF you want to be a motorcycle manufacturing company, why wouldn't you try to poach somebody from the executive suite of a successful motorcycle company?

    Harley new CEO

Too often large companies talk about, and hire leadership focusing on the "brand", and when a company like HD in their situation market-wise starts talking about brand it changes the conversation, and these legacy executives on the board lose the plot. Their focus should be on product and let...

    Harley new CEO

So they're going from a guy with experience selling marketing running shoes to one with experience marketing golf stuff?? Are they really doubling down on the notion that their customers are all just about dead, hence a guy from another senior-focused activity? Was the senior executive in...

    Saturday August 2nd Tiddler Tour

I saw you ride past Base31 as I was going in. That end of the island is surprisingly sparsely populated, which makes it a nice area to go for a ride. The southern part around to Waupoos is nice too.

    Motocraft Festival Picton Aug. 1-3

It was a beautiful day for a ride and though it was as busy as expected in the county, there are a few different and less travelled routes to get to the Picton area. The show in on part of Base31, a former RCAF base with some history to it (bomber training). Most of the old structures appear to...

    Motocraft Festival Picton Aug. 1-3

This is going on this weekend, It looks OK. There's a couple self-guided GPS tours, some test rides available, bike displays and vendors, and other festival stuff. Perhaps a bit pricy with a day pass about $50, but then again it's pretty easy to spend close to that on lunch at a restaurant...

    back support

I can sympathize regarding ergo comfort on a 1090. I had a KTM 990 SMT previously and was in absolute agony within 3 hours. The pain was in my tailbone, hips and lower back. I changed seats and it improved. I bought my 1090 in 2019 or 20 and have made comfort a priority, as I wanted to take...

    E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

I was cycling with my wife on the rail trail between Lindsay and Peterborough a few years ago and a guy on one of those scooters passed us. Like many on those f'n things he wasn't what you'd call considerate or polite. A few km. later we caught up to him as the battery had died (I assume). It...

    Getting someone's attention

I'm sure it would be pretty close to the same though.

    Getting someone's attention

LOL. I followed him along Hwy.2/Dale Rd. and north on Hwy 28 out here in Port Hope. It was only a few minutes. The drive you noted would have taken long enough for me to learn how to play golf.

    Any suggestions

I've done that trip hugging the water from Hamilton, through Niagara Falls and onward. Loved it. As Guzzirider says, the nice thing about this route is that if you find yourself running out of time you can easily slab it home quickly on the 401.

    Getting someone's attention

A guy in front of me had his golf bag & clubs fall off a trailer a few years ago. It happened at an intersection so the clubs pretty much didn't leave the bag and there wasn't any visible damage. I honked and flashed my lights as he pulled away, but he didn't stop. I picked up the bag and was...

    Any suggestions

I agree with Timtune, the north shore of Lake Erie is very pretty with LOTS of interesting places to stop. No, it's not twisty, fast or particularly challenging but it is a beautiful area and the riding is relaxed and pleasant. I'd be tempted to follow the shoreline up to Tobermory, or as far as...

What's your most neglected maintenance item on your motorcycle?

Woohoo I'm not the only one! In the way back times I'd religiously check, lube and adjust my chain. Now it just never looks slack or dry. Even when I measure, it's within tolerance.

9½ Reasons Motorcycle Shops Are Closing That Have Nothing To Do With Sales

The whole "Canadian Distributor" racket accounts for much of the pricing AND service issues in Canada. Years ago I fancied some Touratech stuff and placed an order with their US seller. I received an email that a Canadian Distributor had recently been activated so they couldn't sell it to me. I...

9½ Reasons Motorcycle Shops Are Closing That Have Nothing To Do With Sales

I've heard that a lot over the years, sometimes directed me when we owned our nursery. What the people making this remark never saw or considered was how much work and sacrifice was necessary to get to the point where they felt justified in their envy (for lack of a better word). I still hear...
