    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

So it took all of just 30 minutes to get the plastics, gas tank and the top of the airbox off. It started to drizzle so I had to put the bike back into hiding. I still need to remove the airbox and test the sensor. Those Allen screws holding the airbox down are in a pain in the ass spot. Its...

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

I will do that today and post the video. I will also start to take off the plastics and see how far I can get with maybe taking off the tank too. If never done it before, but I have the shop manual, so I'll follow those instructions.

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

Yeah. I think I have to break up the job into small chunks and try to get through it during the work week. By the time I get to the weekend, I'm too tired to do anything. Haha. I will try to dig into it soon and see what I find and report back. Thank you all for the support. I owe all of you a...

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

I do not hear anything from the throttle plates, even with my head right by the throttle bodies as I turn and release the throttle. I can see the throttle cables, they both seem to be functioning as they should. I don't know how much slack they should have, but there is a small amount of slack...

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

When I start the bike, it automatically revs past the limiter. I really don't want to start the bike until I take things apart and see what I'm working with. If I gather up the energy this week, I might take things off piece by piece throughout the week. If not, I'll have to do it on the weekend.

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

Yeah. Throttle tube springs back. Is it possible for the throttle cable to open and get stuck open, but still allow the return cable to put the throttle tube back in place?

    2004 Yamaha fz6 - throttle issue

Hi, I was riding a couple weeks ago and while passing a truck with the throttle pinned, the bike locked itself into the 16,000rpm range. It went full tilt for a couple seconds before I pulled the clutch back in and hit the kill engine switch. Once parked on the shoulder, I tested the throttle...

    I finally dropped my bike!

**** happens. You learn from your mistakes and you didn't get hurt in this one. So it's okay. Brake levers and scratches can be repaired. I'm going to attempt to JB weld the mirror back to the stalk soon. I'll update the thread once it's done.

    I finally dropped my bike!

1983 Sedan DL. I love the history of the car, it was used sparingly by the first owner, only drove it to Church on Sundays. He drove his three daughters to their weddings in the car. Earlier this month, my father drove my sister to he wedding in it. It has about 56,000kms on it now. Ouch! I...

    I finally dropped my bike!

It's always a matter of time... I was wheeling the bike out of the shed to store some tires of my Volvo 240. So the bike is coming out of the shed, I get punched at the door and I feel the bike slipping from my control. I lay it down as gently as possible, luckily the tire pile helped break the...

How Many Of You Have Been Forced To Become Amateur Mechanics?

I changed the brake pads on my bike earlier this week. I also did a partial change of the brake fluid. I probably should do a more complete flush of the fluid. I do it because I enjoy working with my hands. My day job doesn't allow for that.

Check the contact points on the battery. They need to be clean metal, no corrosion should be visible. Make sure positive to positive and negative to negative.

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Friend of mine was selling his bike because he just had his second kid. I went to the ministry to register the bike. I told them it was gifted to me. Lady said I have to pay tax on what it would go for, I told her I didn't bother to look at comparables since he was giving it to me for free. She...

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

I got an 2004 FZ6 from a friend of mine. He owned it since he was 16. It has around 75000kms on it now. It runs well and is a nice upgrade from my Ninja 650r. I bought mine with a friend discount of $1500. That beat up 2006 should go for around the same.
