If she wants to ride on the street then an M1 exit course is the way to go. I took mine at Durham College back in 1997 (age 16) and went from having never ridden a motorcycle ever to being able to start riding on the road. That didn't mean that I just hopped on my bike and rode wherever I...
Monday was a nice day, I went and stood out on the driveway just to feel the sun and the 6c temps on my face but I was too sore to even try and chop a channel through the ice at the bottom of my driveway so the water could drain out to the sewer. A day later and it was all frozen over again and...
You can hope, prey, bargain all you want. The fact is there is still basically 7-8 weeks of winter left. If you live in the GTA and don't mind risking black ice in the corners or have the ability to wash the salt off your bike after every ride, there may be SOME riding to be had in March, but...
I understood riding an SS on the street a lot more back when I started riding. Back then if you wanted performance you didn't have many options other than to buy an SS bike. Honda's VTR was one of the few really competent sporty non-SS bikes out there. What else were you going to ride, a...
Huge difference between an ST1300/FJR1300/C14 vs a Versys or Vstrom. One is sport touring, the other is adventure touring. Different riding positions. That said, the problem was you. Both the Versys and the Vstrom are excellent handing bikes on the street even in excess of the posted speed...
I never understood buying an SS bike for the street. I'm someone who tends to like to use the right tool for the job. Riding an SS bike on the street is like trying to pound nails with an adjustable wrench. You can do it, but there are other tools much better suited to the task. That's why I...
How often do you ride your bike? Once or twice a week.
Do you usually ride solo or in a group? Solo
What kind of bike/bikes do you ride? Sport touring
How would you describe your riding style: Passive, Neutral or Aggressive? Neutral
Do you find it difficult to get a group to ride...
20 years ago I was 17, about to finish high school, working full time after-school at Marvin Starr Pontiac about to start my second season on my Virago 1100 that I had bought the season before. The first season I had that Virago I took it on a 28 day road trip with my Dad on his Electra Glide...
I'll play the part of wet blanket and remind folks here that most, if not all home-owner's insurance and renter's insurance policies would be voided by storing a motorcycle (or any combustion engine) inside the living quarters of the home. It has to do with fire/carbon monoxide risks. Garages...
I haven't been personally, but a friend has and I'll relay his story. They loaded up the bikes and went to Daytona. The youngest and very well built of member of the group decides he's going to go shirtless while they cruise the strip the first time. The eldest in the group puts on a full...
Yeah, but it only looks like an old school super bike. It'll still just be a Bandit with some lipstick and rouge slapped on it. It'll still handle and perform like a Bandit. I have no problem with that because as I said I am a fan of the Bandits, but I just don't see the point of doing all...
The Rocket III always reminds me of a classic line from the Simpson's:
Nunchucks - cool, but useless!
Pretty much sums up my feelings about the Rocket III.
I love Bandits but not sure I'd want to go to this much trouble to turn one into a racer boy looking bike. If you absolutely have to have the full fairings there were plenty of years where the Bandit/GSX1250F came with them and they don't cost much more than the half fairing versions.
When you're at the motorcycle show this weekend don't forget to stop by the Ride for Sight booth! Get the latest info on the 2019 RFS. This is our 41st annual ride and it's going to be a blast!
I'll personally be at the booth Friday from noon until 6pm so stop by and say HI!
Take my advice for what it's worth, but if you've got a baby on the way don't plan any week long trips away in that first year. Babies are magic and you'll hate yourself later for missing a week of it. They change so much that a week away will feel like coming home to a totally different baby...
In my experience it is a hassle to remove farkles and then try and resell them. It takes a long time and you end up with a lot of no-shows and lookie-loos who don't end up buying. Unless it is something you can transfer onto your new bike to save you buying it new when said part is still in...
Unless you are able to 90-100% of the work yourself you can easily find a well maintained VStrom 650 in your price range that will be farkled well with locking luggage, plenty of wind protection etc and it will only be maybe 10 yrs old vs 35 yrs old. Also, with your height you will find the...
