That's the thing about populous countries like India, the Philippines etc., everyone rides a two-wheeler for a good amount of time before they can afford a car and start driving it. 6th sense or not, one would be amazed how close the cut in with other vehicles on the road and be calm about it.
Also, this is your first year of riding here. Insurance will likely be 30-40% higher for new drivers. And in the first year, in the eyes of the insurance "bigger the cc, higher the chances of a crash."
I got mine around the same time last year. I made 15 calls and posted in local Facebook...
I think I forgot my keys on the bike and someone stole them off. I've locked my bike for now at work. I'm watching it from a window.

Just my 2 cents. Buy what you want to ride, not one that others want you to ride. You'll be riding your bike more than anyone else and it's imperative that you are satisfied with it.
