Crossing borader with Track bike purchased in the US...

My bad, I posted this late last night after getting excited about seeing a 2003 CBR600RR trackbike with spares for $2500 in the US.

    Managing amateur track day risk

I do the same, but am starting to wonder if it makes any difference. Yesterday's trackday at Mosport ended at 4:00 after one rider rear ended another rider. It seems there are more trackday crashes as it warms up or people get more confident... Anyone else notice this as a trend?

Why do I need to go though riv.ca? This bike will never be registered, it is track use only.

    Mechanic for older bikes needed.

Google says you should start here: http://www.lk3000.com/madura/index.cfm. :) Why skill set are you looking for? Engine, suspension, electrical, body??

3 yellow wire problem for Shadows

I don't think the problem is just on Honda Shadows. I have repaired my stator connector on my VFR and CBR. Basically the connection corrodes a little, increasing the resistance of the connection, which creates heat and that melts the plastic. On an older bike, I highly recommend that you clean...

chain adjustment on or off a stand?

If your rear swing arm is angled down when on a stand, the chain will tighten when the weight of the bike is on the rear suspension and even more when the rider sits on it. (and even more is the rear sag is too much) I like to check my chain tension with me sitting on the bike and target about...

Crossing borader with Track bike purchased in the US...

How difficult is it to bring a track bike from the US into Canada? Does any tax need to be paid? I am thinking of picking up a CBR 600RR trackbike from the US as the prices are amazing!! -Frank

You notice very bad body position on trackday... Do you say something?

If they are faster than me I feel that I have no right to say anything.

You notice very bad body position on trackday... Do you say something?

Fair point, but there is always a positive way to say something. In this case I the bike angle was so much he was scraping his aftermarket rear sets. I was honestly worried he was going to get hurt. I walked up and said that I am no expert, but I am worried that the bike's angle is way too much...

    Steering damper bracket question

I am going to make a bracket to attach the steering damper to the frame (side mount) of my CBR F2 track bike. Does the damper need to be 90 from the fork angle? I guess this is ideal, but the rad and birdcage hit the damper when close to 90 degrees. How much angle is OK?

    Managing amateur track day risk

When Jason ran his PIMP days, they would have marshals out wearing a high visability vest and see how everyone was doing.

    600RR - Suspension is Whacked

I would start with checking sag: http://www.sportrider.com/tech/146_0308_set_your_static_sag/index.html Your friends can help you and it should take 10 minutes. I would never let someone I don't know touch the suspension on my bike. It would be better to show up at a Pro6 track day and have...

You notice very bad body position on trackday... Do you say something?

I am no expert in body positioning. I am working on it and buy track photos at every trackday to see what I am really doing.... And try again. It is funny how what you think you are doing is not close to what you are doing. At my last track day, I noticed the rider in front of me was not...

    Fall down go boom

When I was at Calabogie the week before, I set my tires (DP209s) to 32 cold. The hot pressures were 35 psi with the outside temp only 28 degrees. I wonder... with your bike making way more power than my F2 and the hotter temps, maybe this was also a factor?

    Fall down go boom

Interesting... right about the 4:58 mark, the engine seems to stutter/hesitate just before the slide... Ric was the engine running well that weekend?

    Fall down go boom

In looking at the video over and over, I agree. Ric, can you post a pick of the left side of the tire? What did you set your tire pressure to? (cold & hot) It may be due to the wide angle of the GoPro, but if the bike was more to the right of the track before turn, wouldn't that reduce the...

    Rolling back on hills

Try this the next time you are stopped on a hill: -Rev the engine up a little (around 2500 RPM) -Let the clutch slowly out slowly just until the engine starts to slow just a bit -Release the brake (the bike will now start to move forward) -Add throttle while fully releasing the clutch Good Luck!

    Still in the Game Rides!!

Next weekend should be good for me. I need to work on my track bike for Mosport next week. Sometimes, two old bikes is too much work. If you add the age of both bikes it equals 45 years!!!
