Here's a thread on another site where general public discusses the issue.

Note how most are against this change even if they don't ride.
Wow. Didn't expect people to be opposed to lane splitting on a motorcycle forum.
No, our roads aren't too narrow.
No, it's not dangerous as long as the speed differential isn't too high. There are countries that actually promote lane splitting.
Yes, people may get ****** off and try to block...
When they salt the roads I put my bike away and start cycling everywhere. Rode through the whole winter last year without skipping a day.
Here's my base setup:
Merino wool leggings + long sleeve base layer
For head balaclava
For feet thick socks + extra pair over top
If it's extra cold throw on...
If it works reliably, as long as you can penetrate the tire into the tube it shouldn't make any difference.
Keep in mind that some cuts are very small, and if you need to make a big *** hole in your tire to patch a small cut I'm not sure if it's worth it.
How do people who ride in the winter deal with salt?
I'm on two wheels year round (on a bicycle). Last year I rode through the winter and my shocks seized and had to repack hubs on both wheels. Brake pads were rusted away. Chain completely wore down. I washed + lubed the bike after every ride...
I use "Super Clean industrial strength degreaser".
I mix it with water and brush my chain, then wash off with water. I do it my condo parking spot, no complaints and no damage so far. Bottle claims it's non-abrasive and phosphate free.
What would worry me about winter commuting/riding is the salt. It's very bad for the bike.
I rode my bicycle for one winter and the front shocks seized, although I took really good care of it after rides.

I will also keep a look out for DR650E, and unfortunately the ktms are out of my budget range for now.
Around 10-15 years ago I was fortunate...
Hello,
For next year I'm thinking of purchasing a KLR650 as I would like to do some offroading and the road bike with slick tires doesn't cut it on dirt trails. (I've tried)
What's the klr community like in Toronto? In particular, availability of local parts as well as dealers/stores with...
