    250 v 300 Difference

My 250 did not like damp cold mornings but it always started and was good and warm by the time I'm geared up.

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Other than being a first gen ex500, that's not THAT crazy. Maybe a few hundred too high. What would it need? New tires, fluids, and maybe new pads with that? $1600-1800 all-in and it'd be a reasonable buy.

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Solid deal if everything checks out especially for a track bike. But 2300km with new fairings calls for further questions. Looks like OEM tires. Should be less than half of tire life used on them. If any more, i'd bet a speedo changed on a 2013.

    Track Day advice

Yes, you have get rid of regular coolant. I't slippery and extremely difficult to get off the track if it spills. Distilled water or Wetter Water. It only takes a few minutes to do.

Because if all you're doing is browsing the internet, then saving money and going with something that still does the job make more sense.

    Inspection for motorcycle insurance

I would have called another insurance company and kept the exhaust. Save a bit of weight. Riders Plus is a pretty good broker for new riders. Ask questions about bike "mods" before giving your information. Lowering a bike, especially a sports bike, for the road SHOULD be a hard no. They...

    250 v 300 Difference

It's not so much the easier ability to tune (have to buy a power commander for the fuel injected - ultimately costs more than a carb jet kit), it's the bone stock %30 increase in HP and a few points more torque....with out touching either bike. This is only a factor on the track though. Like I...

    250 v 300 Difference

Naw, have just dismantled down to the frame and reassembled both of these bikes many times from racing. Have only disassembled the 300 engine once...haven't put it back together yet. Speaking of, the stator, clutch and valve covers are swappable even though they look different.

    Marshall pay at track/race days

Yike, almost forgot I started this thread. 11:58pm on a Saturday night hahaha. Good to know marshalls get paid, for the most part. I was under the impression they do it volunteer, more or less. A few random track days at Cayuga were just the guys running the day and assume they get track time...

    250 v 300 Difference

Yeah, EFI vs carbed...but I never had issues with the carbs. Even with running the gas tank low on fuel all the time to save weight/handling feel on the track. There is no fuel filter either. You can put one on but make sure it flows fast enough or you run out of gas with a full tank of gas...

    250 v 300 Difference

Racing with both is a big difference. Power to weight when there isn't a lot is much bigger than going from 105hp to 114hp. All depends on what's available though. I'd take a Ninja 250 for $1500 over a Ninja 300 for $3000 if I'm only using it around the city for a few years. If you plan on...

Do I need to wash my Bike? Still looks clean, salt?

Get rid of that salt. Headers on my old Ninja 500 were a mess from winter riding.

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Yeah, they call it a "triple bypass" since it makes most sense to address all three when you have to address one. They are all ****** parts of that model engine. It's well documented on the CX500 forums. Once the cam chain stretches and the tensioner doesn't do it's job, then the cam chain...

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

I'm not positive about the Silverwing version, but the CX500 (same engine from what I know) needs a triple bypass somewhere between the 30k and 50k mark to have a good long life. That involves a new stator, cam chain tensioner and mechanical seal. All should be done at the same time since you...
