Guess I'll start throwing up after every meal then.
WTF is the point of this argument anyway? Some of you guys are making it sound like what I'm asking is out of this world or unheard of. I want to race a 300cc bike in a 300cc grid, is that so unreal? Just like 600s want to race against 600s...
Even if that was the case, it doesn't invalidate the points she's making.
My concerns aren't ill founded, I'd say they're pretty damn realistic for any noobie looking to get into the sport. Honestly I think your argument only proves my point further; put a good racer on a slow bike and they'll...
Yes, but put a seasoned veteran on a 400cc 2S and watch the noob on a 300 get eaten up.
I'm not claiming to be good and I know that regardless of the class I'll likely be up against some skilled riders; which is why I'm interested in a 300 class, so that there's a relatively level playing field...
Exact same issue on mine.
Also shifting up (usually from 1st to 2nd), the gear will engage but the shifter frequently gets stuck in no man's land until you pull in the clutch or blip the throttle a bit.
Hoping for something that can improve the shifting on this bike.
Seriously. I'm trying to gain interest in racing my 300 and so far I've basically been told to suck it up and pay big bucks to play in CSBK (and to sell my 300 I've already prepped and buy one of the cookie cutter bikes from Kawi) or to compete against bigger bikes in regional clubs.
Not...
Same thing with mine and a friend's.
The transmission on the FZ6, FZ6R and older R6s is just... meh. Running Motul 7100 full synthetic, after a fresh oil change and a few thousand KM thereafter, the tranny shifts fairly smooth. After about 4-5 thousand, it starts getting very clunky again.
Well the original aim of the thread was geared more towards CSBK I think, but considering Kawi killed any room for discussion this weekend, that's out the window... so regional racing is a more realistic goal now.
Thank you!
A 300 specific class (or 250-350 to allow older Ninjas and new Yammy's) is definitely what I'm interested in. The 300 doesn't stand a chance in Superbike classes. If I want to get lapped by 600s all day I'll do it for less $$$ on a weekend trackday lol
Ok, I'm clearly blind. What SOAR or RACE series allow 300s? Rookie Cup maybe, but that's hardly fun if you're going to get ripped apart by 600s all day.
For the record, the 300 I'm building was my personal bike that I bought 2 years ago. I'm converting it to a track bike and was already in the process of doing so, before any CSBK 300 class specs were announced.
I was excited about the opportunity of being able to race in a 300 series as well...
They had a flyer with the cost of all the upgrades but I forgot to bring it home, fack.
The kit is...
- Ktech front fork cartridges ($1200)
- Elka rear shock ($800)
- Hindle exhaust
- PCV with quickshifter
- Hotbodies bodywork
- Kawasaki frame sliders
- Dunlop Sportmax Alpha tires
And these...
I spoke with the Kawasaki 300 guys at CSBK today and they confirmed that you will only be allowed to run stock 300s or 300s equipped with the official kit upgrades *only*.
Other modifications will not be allowed.
If running an upgraded 300, it must be the sponsored upgrades from Hotbodies...
Is it? Reflectors fall under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act if I'm not mistaken, not the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Not sure if it's a ticketable violation (i.e. the vehicle can't be sold without them, but nothing in the HTA says you need them)
And that picture is taken with nobody on the bike. Sitting on the bike will cause rear suspension to sag and I bet the plate becomes partially hidden behind the rear wheel.
