I second the fender eliminator. I'd also go with flushmount turn signals and an aftermarket exhaust(slip on is fine). Rim tape looks pretty good as well. Please dont get any undeglow hahaha.

the bike is sitting now. it was just taken out of the bike this week. they said the odo reads around 3k. but since its disconnected now and I haven't seen the engine in the bike ,I'm skeptical to buy it without checking something..I don't have compressed air..all I have is a compression gauge...

I am about to purchase an engine this week and I just wanted to clarify what I should check for before proceeding. The owner told me that its running but thats about it. I will bring my compression tester with me..anything else I should check for? engine has only 3k on it as per the odometer.

3am is my favorite time for riding.

I dont think id get anything for parting it out at all. Ive been selling extra gs500 parts once in a while and I barely get bites. Id rather pay the 1000 and have my bike Im more familiar with. The lowest km gs on the market that is relatively newer_2000 plus and are in that range 2000-2500$...

Yes I have someone whos going to swap it. I am going to use the old engine as a training tool for myself. Going back to my inital post. What is too much to pay for a used engine. even if it only has 3k on it. And this is canada, not the states where everything seems to be 50% cheaper.

buckets were stuck and I couldnt get the valve adjustment without taking off the cams. the opinions I was given were wither replace the top end or swap in a new engine.the top end woulda cost me nearly 600 inc labour. Even then im stuck with a bike that has 42k on it and could have more problems...

I found a really good engine with around 3k on it. Mine has top end problems.. possible piston damage as well. Dont want to risk simply replacing the top end.

Whats the max I should pay for a 500 cc engine with less than 4k on it?

I've only read your initial post so I'm not sure what info you are getting, but depending on how old it is, I advise grabbing a compression tool and test each cylinder to see if its in spec. Only if the bike is over 15k do I think this is very necessary
