    Regarding OPCF 16

What is it you’re trying to do? I don’t think OPCF 16 is going to help you, OPCF 16 only suspends coverage on the vehicle, you still have to continue to pay you’re yearly amount, it’s when you add OPCF 17 that you get a credit for the time OPCF 16 has been used. Plus, some companies if you have...

    Ontario Gov "reducing" insurance rates

Yes, Income Replacement Benefit through car insurance is tax exempt. For those people that don’t have coverage through work be very careful as the standard coverage will only cover you up to $400/weekly, you do have the choice to increase it to $600, $800 or $1000.

Accident in mall parking lot. 50/50 fault. Will my rates go up?

Hahahahah, I wonder if that will even work with the insurance company, but I like your idea.

Accident in mall parking lot. 50/50 fault. Will my rates go up?

Insurance companies look at it, as you’re still operating a vehicle, regardless as if it’s moving or not.

Accident in mall parking lot. 50/50 fault. Will my rates go up?

If you are parked somewhere, come back to your car and there is damage, it's considered a hit/run, you would make a claim under DCPD (Direct Compensation PropertyDamage) not collision. If two people open doors and hit each other causing damage to each other’s vehicle, claim would go under...

    Ontario Gov "reducing" insurance rates

Please keep in mind the auto coverage is only secondary to any coverage you may have through work, unless your work coverage is exhausted, auto coverage will never kick in, a broken arm, I'm pretty sure you'll get nothing from an insurance company, unless you don't have coverage through work.

Accident in mall parking lot. 50/50 fault. Will my rates go up?

The only way this would count as a comprehensive claim, would be if the other party called in a claim as vandalism, otherwise it would be a collision claim.

Accident in mall parking lot. 50/50 fault. Will my rates go up?

Police has no saying on who’s at fault or not in an accident, unless one of the parties gets charged. Parking lot accident are extremely difficult to assess, both parties need to be interviewed by each insurance company, insurance companies at that time will evaluate what both drivers...

    Ontario Gov "reducing" insurance rates

So true the comment above. I did a 17 day road trip through the East Coast this year, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick,Newfoundland and PEI, there were no drivers in the fast lane at any time, no one was going over the speed limit and there were 18 wheelers going in the fast lane to pass the slow...

    Motorcycle on a trailer?

I believe “Splash” and I are trying to say the same thing, however it’s the way I interpreter his first comment, I read it as he is talking as the first person: He hit someone with his trailer and his car insurance will cover the damage to the 3rd party and that’s why I said it incorrect, it...

    Motorcycle on a trailer?

Guys, lets clear this up once in for all. Trailers DO NOT need to have insurance for liability as long as it’s attached to a vehicle that carries insurance, the liability of the auto towing it, is transferred automatically to the trailer. If you want comprehensive and collision coverage on...

    Motorcycle on a trailer?

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say, are you saying your car insurance will cover the damage to the trailer or will it cover the person you hit. If you’re saying it will cover the damage to your own trailer, that is incorrect, the collision portion of you’re vehicle is not transferable to...

    Motorcycle on a trailer?

I believe we are now going into another topic, what you’re saying above is you run into someone’s car and you didn’t have insurance, first of all, better get a good lawyer, you will be charged driving without insurance, the party that you hit and their insurance company will sue you for...

    Motorcycle on a trailer?

That is incorrect, if the accident was not at fault, the motorcycle would be covered under it's own DCPD if the motorcycle has liability coverage. If motorcycle has no insurance at all there is no coverage. You might want to try and sue the 3rd party and their insurance company for compensation...

Any such thing as comprehensive insurance for Bikes in storage

Motorcycle insurance is small business in Ontario, you can count in one hand the number of insurance companies that are willing to insure motorcycles. Because the motorcycle business is so small it only takes one nasty claim and that one company will not be profitable. Just came across a 2 year...

    Motorcycle on a trailer?

Personalitems being carried on a trailer would be covered on the Home/Tenants policy. That does not apply to motorized vehicles that need to have their own insurance policy to be legal on the road ways

    Motorcycle on a trailer?

That is correct, the towing vehicle's insurance does extent to the trailer only while attached to the towing vehicle. For example: If you park the trailer somewhere unattached from the towing vehicle and rolls down a hill and hits a car/person/something there is no coverage, unless you have...

Any such thing as comprehensive insurance for Bikes in storage

There is no such thing as insuring the bike for the winter time only, every company will make you sign a 1 year policy. Motorcycle policies/premium is calculated based on a riding season, there is no "suspended coverage" on motorcycle policies, you cannot change to comprehensive coverage only...
