Truck reverse parked over my bike. Wait for cash or go through insurance?!?

You go to a collision reporting centre. Edit: Hmm... Reading a couple of posts up, I was not aware you can report accidents over the phone.

Truck reverse parked over my bike. Wait for cash or go through insurance?!?

You could not be any further from the truth. Eventually all your damages will be recovered either from the other party's insurance company or from the uninsured/underinsured fund set up to pay for accidents involving, you guessed it, uninsured motorists. But this process takes time, which is why...

    Wear your gear... ***WARNING: GRAPHIC***

Humans have 4.7l of blood, but after about 2l are lost the body starts shutting down the circulatory system. As others said, periferal organs and appendages are the first to be cut off through vasoconstriction so in the end I am not at all surprised there isn't more blood splattered on the...

throw out your arais and shoeis boys, cardboard protects your head better

That explains a lot. :) Yes, replacing a helmet after a crash (that is your head is inside the helmet when it hits the ground) makes sense.

throw out your arais and shoeis boys, cardboard protects your head better

Look up the SNELL tests and THEIR suggestions. I'm pretty sure their experience with dropped helmets is superior to yours, what with their sole purpose being testing helmets being dropped or crashed. http://www.smf.org/helmetfaq#aDroppedHelmet

throw out your arais and shoeis boys, cardboard protects your head better

The feeling creeps up on me too, especially when I hear about replacing helmets after a 4 ft drop. Now either these people are paid shills for the helmet manufacturers or they have x-ray vision so they can see the cracks in the foam they keep talking about. If the helmet was involved in a...

LMAO, ok, whats wrong with this ad??

There we go again. :D There IS something really wrong with it dammit! :) We live in Canada, NOT in Russia, China, Pakistan or wherever else. You can speak any language you choose at home or at social gatherings. But business should be conducted in the official language.

LMAO, ok, whats wrong with this ad??

And as a a second generation immigrant (I came here when I was 16), I can say I have a problem with that. Because of those very closed up communities, people can survive without mingling with the general population, and have no incentives to integrate into the Canadian society. If you live in a...

    Gas Pumps: Fueling

When you're filling up it's also a good idea to get off the bike. If you're sitting on it, a small twitch is enough to send gas spraying all over the bike and yourself, and you have nowhere to run. Gas does not like hot exhausts.

LMAO, ok, whats wrong with this ad??

Fair enough. Think about it for a second though. You get into an accident, and you need to call for help because either you or someone else is injured. No matter where you are on this planet, you will eventually find somebody at the other end of the line that will speak English or French...

LMAO, ok, whats wrong with this ad??

It's obvious first generation Canadians are not expected to have perfect English skills, but unless the system has changed recently, one of the requirements for immigration is speaking one of the official languages. If a person doesn't know a word in either language, how did they pass the...

Getting M licence with no bike

I see everyone else missed this, but exactly how did you forget your sister has a bike? I hope you do realize that if ANYTHING happens while he borrows your bike, your insurance policy covers all his damages? And since you lent your bike to an unauthorized rider, your insurance company may...

Hockey gear dry clean OK for helmet?

Johnson's Baby Shampoo and lots of warm water. I've washed my Shoei TZR at least 6 times over the past 5 years and never had a problem with the liner or foam degrading and falling apart, or with rashes from left over chemicals. The only problem is that after every wash you need to break the...

I almost hit a deer today

The deer in the clip Cha0s00100 posted was at least twice smaller than the one I almost hit, it looks like a baby. But if this one caused so much damage, I can only imagine what would have happened to me.

I almost hit a deer today

Up to today my only worries were sand and gravel in the turns. Herbivores added to the list.

I almost hit a deer today

Earlier today I was riding along the 141 towards Rosseau, when a deer jumped from the bushes and made a dart towards the road right in my path. I honked my horn and 2 meters away from me it decided not to become a kamikaze. Even though I was doing the speed limit, there would have been no way to...
