car question - adjustor seems to have underestimated damage?

Please understand that regardless of whether you go to the insurance recommended shop or your own shop the insurance company authorizes either repair. With recommended shops the estimates are done by the shop it self and approved by an inhouse appraiser, your own shops the estimates are...

Anyone ever have your car/truck stolen?

You can also request to speak with the Manager of the adjuster. If that does not help the situation, the company ombudsman is the next step.

High insurance rate, who is to blame?

All companies offer multi vehicle discount. Not sure what you are referring too. Also the coverage in Austrailia, US , AB or Manitoba have little to no injury coverage which is a gigantic difference. Look at your premium breakdown and see how much you pay for Third party Liabilit and Accident...

Time to revisit no fault insurance

The physical damage payments the insurance companies make is not what is causing your rates to increase its the injury costs. Also no fault is a good system as you are taken care of right away by your insurance company regardless of fault. For example in Alberta, if you get into an accident...

    Intact Insurance Bought Jevco Insurance

There definitely be some back hiccups when two companies merge or is taken over. I remember having my bank access card disable when TD and Canada Trust merge. They also changed my account from a value account to an executive account that must keep a balance of $5000 to maintain no fees(I was a...

car insurance question - TD MM not allowing car mods

It is possible for the insurance company to deny a claim based on the vehicle having modification that were not disclosed. I had a client who drove through a large puddle with a CAI and it hydrolock the engine of the car. He did not disclose the mod to us and had he left the OEM intake the...

Why are insurance quotes not based on at fault claim amounts?

They actually do pay large rates like that. Assessment costs are very high as are treatments. Treaments can last years which only increases cost. Those medical costs you paid in the US as the similar in Ontario, we have OHIP which pays for it.

    Convictions on insurance record

Some companies charge a fee and some don't. No different than any other company in every industry that you sign a contract with.

    Convictions on insurance record

Yeah I follow you. You also didn't explain it that way in your first post, so that could be why. The insurance company should not be double charging you if your son has his own bike policy. I would call them back and discuss with them. You pay the $600 rate and he pays $3000/yr. Maybe...

    Convictions on insurance record

If the MTO removes it from their records so should the insurer. Is the policy not based on the driving record which is held by the ministry? Did they not change the policy based on the conviction of the MTO record?. Yes they did so they cared about that, did they not. Why would they not also...

    Convictions on insurance record

What are you expecting the insurance company to look out for?? They have to look at the expected future costs, that is the whole premise of insurance. Insurance is no different then any other business you buy a product or service from. You think it cost Tim's $1.50 to make that coffee...

Bill 45 - An Auto Insurance Amendment Act

I read the entire document. Which is why I agree with the S.C.C. Somehow you have stated that I disagree with their view. I don't, I believe this is the best method that we have at this time. If something else comes along that is better then giddy up. My point was that there are lots of...

Zurich Insurance Co. v. Ontario (Human Rights Comm.) (1992), 16 C.H.R.R. D/255 (S.C.C.) The majority of the Supreme Court of Canada finds that Zurich Insurance did not discriminate against Michael Bates contrary to the Ontario Human Rights Code by charging him higher premiums for automobile...

Bill 45 - An Auto Insurance Amendment Act

Actually his job would still exist, do you think that your provincial carrier doesn't employ actuaries??? This rating basis is no more discriminatory than, taxes that vary from city to city, housing prices from region to region, gas prices from different regions. If you live in an area where...

Bill 45 - An Auto Insurance Amendment Act

Interesting what's on the block next... A MPP tabling a bill for discrimination of over the higher taxes in Toronto than Mississauga, maybe one for the cost of a home in Sauga over Brampton.

    Question for new riders

Sorry Alex, but there is a slight difference in rates on bikes based on the year. Not a large difference but the rates do change. There can be a further difference in price if you purchase Collision and/or Comprehensive. Bikes 2008 and newer are a little more expensive that bikes 2007 and older.

You would also be surprised how many people leave wonderful bits of information on their MySpace, Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter accounts. Also people don't usually care to send their 10,000 cheque to a friends house. You get into an accident, do you think your mind is not preaccompied with the...
