Ride to Deals Gap - if the weather gods are kind

Of course I can't get time off work when we were having all this great October weather - but thanks to my boss being away and my heated gear - hoping to get one last tour in. Planning around the weather forecasts for each region and may have to change things up a little - kind of a seat of the...

    Pennsylvania Sept 27, 2013

Right now the weather forecast for the upcoming weekend is even better! My plans are to take my stuff to work with me and head off right after I'm done at 4:30 p.m. on Friday - being in Hamilton I'm only an hour to the border - haven't decided yet on hitting PA or WV, but leaning towards WV...

    2013 fall colors ride

Lucky me -I had Pricelined a room for 50 bucks at the Travelodge in Barrie right off Exit 98 - it just started to sprinkle when I checked in. Had a great time - rode at the back for a bit and the ride looked awesome!

    2013 fall colors ride

I can do either day, though Sunday is marginally better for me, since I'll have to leave from Hamilton on Saturday (but Sunday I can sleep in at my motel :-) ) From what I've seen posted, there's probably enough interest to form a separate ride if someone wanted to take over the "losing" day -...

Pennsylvia Over night ride - September 21st (28th as rain day?)

I'm already committed for the Algonquin Ride - Pricelined the motels sometime ago, so its unrefundable - I'm going rain or shine to Barrie this weekend :-)

what would be a good day ride for some nice fall colour viewing?

Yep - I'm staying up in the Barrie area Saturday and Sunday nights - I'll join up with the group ride for whichever day that happens and the other day just motor around on my own - maybe up to Killarney one day and Algonquin with the group the other (if the weather is nice both days - could...

    2013 fall colors ride

Ah the joys of weather watching - the forecast has changed about 10 times since Monday, so I'm trying not to check again until Thursday - I'm making an extended weekend of it anyway and have a motel for Saturday and Sunday night so I'm hoping for nice weather both days and am good for either.

what would be a good day ride for some nice fall colour viewing?

One day would be a stretch with the shorter daylight hours and you could miss peak colour in October - the mountains turn earlier. Northern PA might be a better bet - or Finger Lakes region has beautiful fall foliage as well and turns later in the year, but not very exciting roads. Same...

Deals Gap - Fall Colours and Twisties in October

If I could swing the time off work I would definitely do this - I love camping in the fall - but my boss is off to NZ/Australia second half of October and I have to hold down the fort :-(

Pennsylvia Over night ride - September 21st (28th as rain day?)

There are lots of nice/evil corners in that part of PA. But lots of times in the fall it can be more about how hard you can brake than how fast you can corner - a big amorous buck standing in the middle of the road making goo goo eyes at the cute doe-eyed doe on the other side will straighten...

    GTAM'er PA Check-in thread

This is a great idea though - gives a chance for those with varying routes or riding styles to enjoy a little socialization at the end of the day - and swap new great road stories (or speed trap stories -:). This might be a sticky post?

    Finally tried dirtbiking!

Good article - I did Trail Tours about 6 years ago - did one session and liked it so much I signed on for two more. I wasn't looking to get a dirt bike, just wanted to be more comfortable with my street bike in less than optimal conditions. Absolutely great experience and I am one of those...

    2013 fall colors ride

Colours were spectacular last year - well worth the drizzle. Hope to make it again this year!

Pennsylvia Over night ride - September 21st (28th as rain day?)

Haven't been to the Kinzua skywalk yet - have been to the Dam and the Hyner lookout. I was down to Johnstown last weekend and the fall colours were already starting to come out in northern PA,

How many helmets are to many?

I have four I use on a regular basis. My Arai full face has the best airflow, so its my summer and touring pick, my Shark full face doesn't have great airflow but its quieter and warmer for the cool weather - reduced airflow means it fogs up more - so my cheapie HJC full face that I got on...

Sunday Sept1st Ride North, 845 AM - Weston and Rutherford - Tim Hortons - 9 SHARP

Sunday - north if reasonably clear - yes, heavy rain and lightening - not so much Sunday - Niagara I'd probably roll the dice on an iffy forecast but I'm from Hamilton so its not much of a gamble I'm also okay for a Monday ride - will keep an eye on this thread

Sounds good to me - I will be coming from east Hamilton.

    25 Days CO - UT - ID - MT - WY - SD

It doesn't really take balls to tour alone - just a little faith and a little luck :-) I did end up being hauled off the side of a mountain road in Vermont by ambulance on my first attempt on a long trip - low sided the bike and totaled it. So I don't take it lightly and I'm fully aware of...

If you had 9 Days of Vacation, Where Would you Ride to? Starting location: Toronto

Exactly what he says :-) Also how far are you comfortable in travelling in a day and what's your budget. I can tell you I have done Colorado south into New Mexico in 9 days - but that was also my second trip down and I had very specific things I missed on my first ride that I wanted to see...
