How do you prefer to ride?

Have always enjoyed riding alone (selfish?) I can go as fast and as far as I want, take butt breaks when I want and go to all the places I want. Tried group rides but find the level of expertise in the groups and the terrain chosen can (and) has been detrimental to the riders.

Toronto to LA then Van and back

+1 Have been long distance touring for decades. Never been bored on a road trip. Most important how bike fits, a good fitting helmet, ear plugs, a custom seat (Sargent etc.) and listen to your body! Take water/stretch breaks often and on long trips schedule days off the bike. The rest comes...

Fold up trailer for towing HD?

Itoo was considering a fold up trailer for my bike but too expensive (http://www.stingertrailer.ca/purchaseAp2108.html). Try Kijiji or E-bay for a used one.

    Motorcycle GPS

Had my Garmin Zumo 660 for 3 years now and use it both in my car and on my motorcycle. The Zumo cradle connects to the battery to charge the GPS while riding. I have used the GPS to tour across the USA each year. I also have downloaded route maps from RoadRunner magazine which provided four very...

South East or South West next summer?

I was in Colorado this Fall for the second time. My 3 week trip centered around Frisco where I stayed at the Frisco Lodge which I would highly recommend. Zipping through the mountain passes is unbelievable!. On the way there I went up to the top of Pikes Peak and coming back I headed up to Grand...

Cdn Credit card to pay for US fuel that requires ZIP code.

Just got back from 10,000 km trip to Colorado/Yellowstone. Every time I was asked for ZIP code using my Scotiabank VISA card the postal code plus two zeros always worked! Saved me a lot of time :p

    Oil changes on the road

I have always changed my oil before I take a trip and then don't worry about it. My annual trips are 4 weeks + and generally are 12 - 15,000 Kms. My dealer mechanic has no problems with this tactic as long as I eventually get the recommended service as per warranty. Now tires are another thing...

    Cross Country roadtrips

Have 'toured' my whole life. By thumb (70's), car and bike. Now retired and taking advantage of it. Two years ago it was to California, last year Utah, this year it will be to the South West US again as I love it there (warm). I photo blogged both trips at...
