First 1000km service ... and a real shock

Hully Gully is horrible! My wife's Tu250 was a demo from there sold as new (few enough kms). When I picked it up I noticed a vibration from the front brake. Took it in a week later for them to look at, but they "couldn't see or feel anything". I drove away ****** off, and after hitting the brake...

    What's with these Suzuki Bandits?

CBC Article - Motorcycle deaths could hit 7-year high, OPP says

Higher age does not mean that someone has been riding for many years, and high number of years riding does not mean someone is experienced. Even people with loads of years and experience may be practicing the same bad skills over many, many kms. Example: I'm 44 and am in my 5th riding season...

Ive had both, and the oxford grips are way better than the inserts.

    Matching helmet to headshape

I've got the long oval melon as well. Complete pita trying to find something comfortable; especially on a budget. I started with a cheapie, the went to a shark RSF3, but still had pressure on my forehead. Luckily, Arai Profile helmets (which fit me perfectly) were going on clearance everywhere...

anyone got a aftermarket air horn installed?

Pretty sure Stebel has a "plug and play" kit (for extra $) that has everything you need for install. I just made a parts list out of the instructions and sourced all the litttle bits I needed. Hardest part was finding a good place to mount it, but still was done in less than an hour.

    Mileage

When I was thinking about selling my last Versys that had 70000 km on it, I looked up what kind of issues people ran into at what stages in the bike's life. First i found people with 70-100000 Miles who had no major issues, then someone with 160000 miles with no major issues. Insert usual...

The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Tempted: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-street-cruisers-choppers/london/great-starter-bike/1006652437 Guy said it runs and might need brakes for safety. Lots you can do with that!

    2014 Demo Days

Just came from the Honda demo in London. Wanted to ride something I would realistically buy, so the CB500X was my choice. It's like a toy, but in a good way. Small, nimble, pulls well, but is so smooth that 4000 and 8000 rpm feel about the same. Great little bike!

    Kevlar jeans

I have a pair of Drayko jeans that I went down in a few months ago and slid for about 15-20 ft. I got friction burn from them rubbing against my knee, but no gravel to pick out, so I believe they did what they were designed to do. I'm currently looking for knee protection for under them (knox...

Same. I'm more likely to go if there's a destination (need to pick up a lb of coffee...in Midland!).

    London and Area Riders?

I'm in London, but commute about 120 km daily, so don't do a lot of extra riding.

    Gear for occaisonal riding?

I low sided wearing kevlar jeans. No road rash, but the way the jeans twisted is left me with some pretty good rug burn. Hurt like a SOB, but I was able to ride the next day (after fixing the bike). Superficial vs picking gravel out of my knee. Would have been an awful mess without the kevlar.

Hazard: People with soccer flags on their cars

Not at all what I was saying. This is not cause and effect, but more correlation. In my original post, there was a high correlation between flags on the cars who's drivers were being idiots. Leads me to believe that maybe people who put flags on their cars are more likely to be distracted /...

moved up to a ninja 300 from a cbr 125, regretting it --- why is bigger better?

In a lot of cases, and to a lot of people, bigger is not better. There are, however, certain bikes that are better for certain people. When i got rid of my gs500 for a versys 650, i did it primarily due to the luggage limitations on the GS. I had no issue with the power of the GS, but was very...
