Well I guess my luck had to run out some time. I mean I have only encountered rain twice in a month. Any way, I am in my motel room watching the down pour as the TV program I was watching was preempted to announce a tornado warning for the Dallas area. Welcome to Texas in the spring. BTW, I did...

California bound on an FJR1300 in April

What can I do? I have been lucky so far. Two days of rain in a month. BTW, my plan to get home is an indirect one. I am riding south into Louisiana, Miss, Alabama, until I get to Atlanta. At that point, I will head north through the Smokey, and Blue Ridge mountains. I am giving my self two...

Today I rode from south eastern Colorado to Amarillo Texas. I was planning to achieve more miles but there was a southern wind blowing at 35-50 mph. The sky was brown and tumble weeds were constantly crossing my path. It was a new world to me. Any way, I made the most of it and got caught up...

I have not been on an intensive Colorado ride. I am on a 6 week south west tour. I am sure I missed nice spots in California and Arizona too, but I can't do it all in one trip. Any way, I have been blessed with a few days of summer like weather in Colorado but my window of opportunity is now...

California bound on an FJR1300 in April

Today I enjoy my last Colorado day. I have been in the state for 3 days. Here's my Colorado recap: Upon completing Monument Valley Utah I started my journey in Grand Junction. From there I headed south on 141 to Telluride. I then took 145 s to Durango for the night. Yesterday I ventured n on...

I am in Gunnison Colorado tonight. I started my day in Durango. 550 was treacherous. Yes it was beautiful, but there was thick gravel in virtually every hair pin corner. I did OK but the road conditions could have easily swallowed an unsuspecting biker. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful the high...

The main difference between the FJR and the Bandit 1200 so far is the seamless fuel injection. On paper the FJR puts out a lot more power, but I just don't feel it. The Bandit never lacked for power when over talking at highway speeds. The FJR is more refined but not exponentially more powerful.

I was in Telluride yesterday and the place had me spell bound. I lucked out as far as the weather goes. The whole state has experienced summer weather this week. Tomorrow I head to Gunnison. I am in Durango tonight. I am taking my sweet time through Colorado.

I have been on the road for almost a month and I have seen many beautiful places along the way. I have been in Colorado for the past two days and I finally understand why this place has such a strong attraction to so many of you on this forum. Colorado is every thing I expected and more.

Today I rode from Las Vegas to Williams Arizona. This puts me one hour south of the Grand Canyon for tomorrow. The scenery in this town is amazing. The town sits at 6600 feet. The surrounding hills are covered in pine making it look more like Colorado. Hovering over the town in the distance are...

California bound on an FJR1300 in April

These are my observations on Las Vegas: People like to let loose here. I soon figured out it is legal to walk around in public with alcoholic beverage in hand. They rent out motor scooters to tourists to ride with out the requirement to wear a helmet. Prostitution is legal and they will marry...

Trust me, if it was possible I would have shown every one all my pics. You see, when my riding day is over I post all my pics to my Facebook for my family and friends. By the time I am done that, all I want is a meal and a cold beer.

Sorry I sound babbling but those are all embarrassing typo's on small key board. A 90 mile stretch of P.C.H was much more technically challenging than I expected during the stretch south of Carmel. This is to say nothing of the majestic beauty. Yosemite was stunning. There is an endless...

I feel like a retired person because I forget what day if is ( they all feel the same). Any ways I have seen a lit since I touched base. I rode the wicked P.C.H, I rode through Yosemite, and tomorrow I ride through Death Valley and end my say in Las Vegas.

I am in Southern California. Took mountain back roads from Palm Springs to San Diego. I have been traveling north on the PCH at a leisurely pace. I visited distant cousins in Temecula and Huntington Beach who hosted me over night. I am know in Redondo Beach for the night. Yesterday I visited the...

California bound on an FJR1300 in April

I am in Palm Springs tonight. Same weather as Phoenix , hot and pukey. However, I am not complaining. I asked a police officer for directions and he couldn't believe how far from home I was. The steep mountains provide a beautiful back drop from any angle. I ran in to a guy from B.C. at my hotel...

Hi guys. I'm sorry for my stupidity regarding posting pics, however I can update you via text. I am in Phoenix Arizona tonight. Weather is 33 degrees and sunny. These people don't have a clue how good they have it. Tomorrow I ride to beautiful Palm Springs California. The new bike is not a...
