Has anyone else "given up" commuting on their motorcycle?

Agreed. Although with State Farm, scooters and small displacement <250cc bikes, you can definitely run that cheaper than any car. When I had a CBR125, insurance was $25 per month and it got 80mpg. With a SS or just about any other bike, it really isn't about saving money anymore.

Has anyone else "given up" commuting on their motorcycle?

With kids and other family commitments, riding to work is the only time I get to ride!

Bent front fairing stay - yamaha fz6

Hey GTAers, Just picked up a 2007 Yamaha FZ6. Bike was dropped and has some minor rash along the front fairing and tank. I did notice, however, that the front fairing looked a bit crooked and upon further inspection found out that the front fairing stay is a bit bent. I've taken it off, put...

    Riding a purchased bike home?

Yes, regardless of whether or not you go the temporary permit route, you have to get the bike registered and transferred into your name before you can legally ride it. Is there a Service Ontario nearby? If so, go check out the bike, if you like it, buy it and get all the paperwork. Call your...

    rider training course jacket question

I think most courses accept jean jackets and fashion leather jackets! A dedicated bike textile jacket should be no problem.

    Need a boot recommendation!

Motorcycle boots nowadays do not have steel toes. In a crash you don't want a sharp piece of metal slicing off some toes or crushing into them. I also find a lot of heavy duty, CSA approved, steel toe boots have thick, massive toe pads to accommodate the steel. This makes for awkward shifting...

Thanks for the recommendations so far guys. Really liking the look of the A*'s and the Nighthawks. I'll see if they are in any of the local shops.

    Need a boot recommendation!

Hey GTAers, I'm looking for some recommendations for a good street riding boot. I currently wear Icon Superduty 4's. I like them because I commute to work with my bike and the Superduty's look casual enough and are comfortable enough that I do not have to pack a pair of work shoes. They do...

Quit our jobs, sold our home and everything in it, gone riding...

Thanks for sharing. I've been slowly making my way through your journey so far and am really enjoying the read! Quick question....when touring, how do you make sure your valuables/belongings on your bikes are safe when you do excursions such as hiking, snorkelling, etc.? Cheers and stay...

Did anyone else have to take pictures for insurance?

Yes. I had to ride the bike to their office to have the pictures taken. They insured me before taking the pictures but wanted me to get there as soon as possible to have it done.

Would you buy a used bike you couldn't test ride?

Bought all my bikes without a test ride...sold all of them without allowing one either. I'm not a fan of potentially funky insurance situations....cash in hand doesn't really change my stance on that either because the price of the bike can sometimes be the least of the worries if an accident...

    Thoughts on 1st bike

Like the consensus here, I agree..can't go wrong for a grand. You could ride that for a year or two and get more $ selling it then probably. Check the exterior of the engine for any visible leaks. Bikes that have been dumped quite a few times might develop leaks here and there.
