Downtown Toronto (Queen and John) parking

My office is in the Queen and John area of Toronto and I'm thinking of occasionally riding to work. I know I can use a parking lot, but I'm wondering if I can take advantage of parking for free with the motorcycle. Here's my question: are there spots where motorcyclists tend to park their...

The "Are you thinking of a new bike for 2024?" discussion thread.

Thinking about getting a Trident 660 this season. I'm looking for a middleweight and it seems to be pretty good bang for your buck. Plus, I checked with insurance and it's not bad. I like nakeds, but I'm open to bikes with fairings and sportier looks like the R7, Tuono 660, or even the Ducati...

    Black Friday vs. Motorcycle Supershow

Ugh. Sleazy retailer. That's awful. I've been keeping an eye on what I want for a few months and at least they Black Friday discount is real, small as it may be

    Black Friday vs. Motorcycle Supershow

I'm in the market for a new leather riding jacket. There are a few I've had my eye on but was waiting for sales or discounts before pulling the trigger. It's Black Friday and now the stuff I want is 15% off. My question is this: should I go ahead and click the "buy" button or am I likely to...

Experienced riders: which Moto accessories should a new rider get?

I'm sure even you have a couple of superfluous items that you think are fantastic and would recommend though.

Experienced riders: which Moto accessories should a new rider get?

Amazing. Thanks for all this. I really appreciate it. I chuckled at the second instance of gear. I'll bet almost every rider goes through that.

Experienced riders: which Moto accessories should a new rider get?

You're not being an a-hole and you're also not wrong. I've watched more than a few YouTube videos that suggest buying this or that. I recognize that they're selling stuff - either the thing they're talking about or or just their content so they wind up saying things they don't really believe...

Experienced riders: which Moto accessories should a new rider get?

Good point. I should have included a bit more info. It's a Svartpilen 401. I doubt I'll do any off roading on it. I'll probably use it to commute to work a few days per week. That's a mix of city roads and a 6 exit stint on the 401; I'll probably avoid that shitshow on the motorcycle for a...

Experienced riders: which Moto accessories should a new rider get?

I'm on a Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. I have all my riding gear: full face helmet, jacket with armour, gloves, boots, riding jeans. It's all top notch stuff, from reputable local retailers that meets Canadian, US, and EU safety certifications. I should mention that I did the M2 safety course to...

Experienced riders: which Moto accessories should a new rider get?

I'm curious about the accessories that you experienced riders actually use and think are worth the money. Should I buy a rear stand and some tools first so I can do basic maintenance? Should I get a bluetooth headset so I can get turn by turn directions (and so my wife can reach me if she's...

    New Rider Tips and advice

I've seen, like, a million YouTube videos about down shifting and blipping the throttle and I banked it away for when I became more experienced. Your explanation is so simple, that I tried it, over and over, on a long ride last night and it worked like a charm. Thanks!

    New Rider Tips and advice

Thanks for the reply. Once I stopped riding the clutch in 2nd gear and above and just started releasing it quickly, everything improved. Your advice was much appreciated

    New Rider Tips and advice

Thanks so much for this answer. While riding around for a few hours trying this this and that, it became apparent that I was being too slow and deliberate with the shifting. I sped things way up, and started shifting as you suggested and the shifts are fast, smooth, and predictable. Thanks!

    New Rider Tips and advice

I'm hoping to reduce how herky jerky I am in low gears, at low speed. I'm trying to open and close the throttle smoothly but it just feels like I'm going from wide open to off it completely (even though I'm trying to move it a millimetre at a time). I'm death gripping them to some extent, but...
