    Another Scam...Now on Autotrader

Stupid question... how does this scam work out if you continue through and follow the scammer's instructions?

    Tank Bags

Just a thought... The magnets on these tank bags seem to be pretty heavy-duty strength. Would it be safe to carry something like a laptop in "backpack mode"? I'd be scared of the magnets messing up the hard drive. Or do they have some sort of shielding between the magnets and the inside of...

Buyer dissatisfied about deal made through GTAM . .

OP, the buyer may have been a bit niave, but it's hard to believe that you didn't know the item wasn't OEM. Sure, you never lied in your ad and you gave the buyer a chance to inspect it--and hell, it was only $60--but do you think anyone would feel comfortable purchasing a used bike from you...

Truck reverse parked over my bike. Wait for cash or go through insurance?!?

I still don't quite understand how fault is determined when you go to the Collision Reporting Centre. I'm speaking generally, of course; obviously in a rear-end situation, the driver in the back is almost always at fault. But what about cases where car A sideswipes car B by changing into car...

Truck reverse parked over my bike. Wait for cash or go through insurance?!?

Apologies for my ignorance; but when you go to a collision centre to report a collision, how do they determine fault? Or do you go to the collision centre with the other party involved and you both sign the report, essentially agreeing to what happened and/or who's at fault?

    Is security recommended?

I don't think anybody is getting offended--I doubt you're worth that much. You just come off as a d-bag. Just saying... Please don't hurt me, I'll admit my inferiority--I can only do about 2 chin-ups.

Some Traffic Ticket Fighters Are Stupid & Incompetent (Cousin Charged)

Well I suppose you can't really blame your "attorney". Your cousin will probably recoup the cost of hiring this guy from the amount he saved her in insurance premiums over the next couple of years. With that said, from my experience, most of these ticket fighting "attorneys" are overpriced and...

Hockey gear dry clean OK for helmet?

Would it be safe to microwave the removable liner of the helmet to kill bacteria? I do this with dish towels to keep the smell away... but not sure about the liner of a helmet...

    This really grinds my gears!

Ah yes. The idea of the law is great. But now the people who refuse to give up texting while driving just hold their phone in their lap to hide their texting. This is probably more dangerous than what they did before, e.g. holding the phone up by the wheel.

Some Traffic Ticket Fighters Are Stupid & Incompetent (Cousin Charged)

That's an interesting point, though. it's not the other driver who's pressing charges, right? Does every collision (where police are involved) end up with the at-fault driver being charged with an HTA offense? Why DID there have to be charges laid? Serious question.

Interesting Accident Study - Helmet related

I think this statement is inaccurate. Not because I think you're wrong, but because your statement is based on a flawed source, i.e. this study. There is so much information that is missing from this study that "appropriate gear" arguments based on this study are not much more than...

Interesting Accident Study - Helmet related

This study definitely needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Somebody already pointed this out: this study does not necessarily include crashes where riders walked away with unreported injuries (i.e. likely uninjured). Might as well conclude that 100% of fatal crashes resulted in...

Insurance Questions Answered: A Claim Adjuster's Perspective

I may very well be wrong, but my understanding is that the CPP/tax dollars from the current working generations go to support the current retired generation. You make it sound like your contributions from 20, 30, 40 years ago were set aside for when you need them when you retire. I think this...

08 White/Red R1 Stolen last night In Waterloo region.

OP, how thick was this concrete pole/pillar? Sorry for your loss, but what's done is done; now the only thing left to do is satisfy our curiosity! I'm genuinely curious now... Have you spoken to you building management? Who's on the hook for repairing damages to the building?

4 tickets - how to fight it?

Did the cop show up to court, though? Your situation might have been different, but... When I went to court to fight a ticket for parking in a fire route ($250 fine), the first thing they did (after all the waiting they make you do) was to give everybody the chance to "plead guilty" with a...

Motorcycle Anchor Like No Other Design

Even having something like this, regardless of drilling holes into concrete, may go against some condo agreements. For example, my building's condo agreement specifically states that parking spaces are to used only for the storage of motor vehicles. Surprisingly, it's OK to use one spot for...
