I usually leave my stuff and do the normal prep. and i know my nighthawk's charging break even point is 2500 rpm. at idle (1100 rpm) it draws 10 amps.
now for a carbed bike could running the float bowls dry before storage and drain the remainder out of the bowl be better no fuel to gum up the...

the show was good I loved all the cool ideas I just wish they built more stuff with something other then a v twin
Thanks for the advice I think I will just stick with the stock airbox and fix it. now to find a manufacture that make a 4-2 exhaust mac only makes it for the previous gen nighthawk and I'm not fond of the mac's tinny sound
Ok I'm still learning the whole carb thing my last bike a 90 VTR 250 had a big modified rinehart pipe (it came with it) all I did was up the main 2 sizes and it ran perfect, but that is a whole different beast.
I was looking at pods because I've been told it can help add abit of power with a...
I do like the bike and it has different style. I want to do the exhaust and get rid of the stock airbox since its rubber plenum has shrunk and does not sit in the box fully and someone has glued it in the past. so with these mod I'm guessing two sizes up on mains?
I guess on hard shift to...
great skills but a parking lot will have way more grip then a old polished street I have many times locked the rear with so little effort near intersections.
No i did it when the engine was hot. this bike pulls pretty good I can still pull the front wheel in 2ed gear if I try which I'm told is harder for a shaft drive.
So I re did the compression test today at wot. And it made much more of a difference then even some have said maybe a F.I. Engine it won't make as much of a difference but I was really surprised and happy the numbers came way up. tested it's between 120-130psi between all cylinders and with some...
Wow thanks for all the info guys I will re try the test again in a couple days at wide open throttle and also try dropping some oil into it. she does burn some oil I'm not quite sure how much. it does also have 34k+ miles on it.
And when I did the test I did go through compression cycle 6-8...
So my 1985 nighthawk 650 seems to run great even though I know it's on the lean side. I just did a compression test after it was all warmed up after a ride and my results were disappointing.
Cyl1 80psi spark plug was normal
Cyl2 80psi plug real lean
Cyl3 70psi plug real rich
Cyl4 85psi plug a...
perfect thanks. when I do decide to build a bike I'm not going to go crazy but i like unique i'm not a showroom stock kind of guy. I've built tube chassis on a small scale before.
