Got pulled over because TPS cop didn't like my helmet. Bell Drifter with DOT sticker and fully legal. Wasted twenty minutes of my time before letting me go. He was clearly disappointed he couldn't do me for an illegal lid.
And that is the crux of the problem. Oil - despite the peak oil scars - is still plentiful but the lack of refineries is creating a false scarcity. I heard the other day that a refinery has not been built in North America since the 1970s and given the power of the environment lobbies, I don't...
Both my parents are from Nova Scotia but I was born in Trenton ON when my father was stationed there in the early 60s. My dad was transferred back to the Greenwood NS airbase when I was quite young so I grew up in the Annapolis Valley and went to SMU in Halifax. The company I was working with...
When I got back into riding a few years back, I bought a 2007 Vstar 1100. It was a very solid machine and I put over 40k Kim's on it in two seasons of riding.
At 6'2" and on the wrong side of 250 lbs I did feel a bit big for the bike but I never felt I overwhelmed it. Could cruise all day long...
McGuire's Gold soap for both the bike and my Jeep. I also use McGuire's Gold polish.
I use a chamois to get most of the water off my bike but then use an electric leaf blower to get the water out of all the crevices.
I was 12 and my brother was 10 and we had just moved to rural Nova Scotia shortly after my Dad retired from the Air Force. WIth all the backroads and empty fields surrounding us, we had the choice between horses or dirt bikes. We chose bikes and shortly afterwards were the proud owners of shiny...
Check out these guys as well:

They make a sturdy product and will deliver anywhere in GTA. Have one of their sheds (8 x 12) and use it for garden and pool stuff but could easily fit a couple of bikes. No permit needed for this size but anything bigger would require one.
I got there Tuesday afternoon just as someone was closing the deal on the last bike they had - a XR1200 X Sportster. Retails for around $13k. He told me he got it for $8,000 out the door. He had bought a big tourer over the winter and he came in to check on it once he learned they were closing...
I am jealous! Love riding PEI. Of course, when I was living in Nova Scotia the Confederation Bridge was just a dream and the only way over to the "Island" was by ferry. What time of year are you considering? We usually head down in late July or August as the weather tends to be better. May...
I've had my license since 1979 and rode all through high school and university. Transferred to Ontario in 1988 and left riding until six years ago when I thought it was time to get back on a bike. My wife had never even been a passenger until I started up again and after two rides she announced...
Here's a link to my YouTube page where I have posted some rides from last summer. Not the greatest from an artistic standpoint by any means, but it does help with the withdrawal symptoms.

Earlier this year at an OPP Golden Helmets demonstration I asked one of the first-year team members what he rode as his personal bike. He said he did not have a bike and had never ridden a motorcycle until joining the OPP.
He had originally wanted to get into one of the marine units but was...
For those looking for a “bike friendly” place to stay in eastern GTA, you might want to check out Brookside Bed n’ Breakfast. My wife and I met the owners recently and while we have not stayed there yet, I can say that the owners are very friendly and have a wonderful location near the Village...
Two bikes - many years of winter prepping.
One bike is FI and one is carbed but my procedures are the same.
Fresh oil and filter and then a little run up to the service station. Add fuel stabilizer and brim the tanks to avoid condensation over the winter and ride home (half mile).
Wash, wax...
In single-digit temperatures, I find I am comfortable enough with overalls that I got for $40 from an army surplus store layered over a pair of jeans. At 5 degrees C, I would add a pair of long johns under the jeans if running at highway speeds.
Anything colder than that and I just wouldn't be...
Latest word is a 6-month reprieve for all the tenants in the building and it is business as usual at the museum for now. Not sure what happens after that but at least everything will remain under-cover until a new site can be sourced. There is even a possibility that we can find another location...
Yeah - I'm a member and went up there last night to see what was going on. The landlord is evicting everyone at 65 Carl Hall Road and wants to knock the building down and put up a multi-pad ice rink. By 8 pm last night the word was that the museum would be open today and we moved all the planes...
You can always head up to Base Borden - lots of planes on display around the base and two museums to check out. You just need to show ID at the guard house and you will have no problems getting on the base.
