Seeing as I just got back from U.S. Eastern trip last week and have a bit of cash left, was thinking of doing
7 or 8 days starting in Ohio - Kentucky (boone forest ) then dragon area and zig zaging back through mountains
to Buffalo area. Would be a very swift ride each day starting at 8am and...
Marietta is a good base for Ohio and WV. Almost every road from Wheeling to Marietta is great. 26 is good but not the best one. If you don't want to take Hwy all the way - You can take the 62 from buffalo over to Hwy 79 then south.
I was thinking of going down on Sat for a week in that area...
TO to Kingston and Ferries to States - 1st one is fairly large and second one is small. Was rough water going over and had to hold bikes from falling over. Rained till we got down to just below Water town. As soon as we hit twistys was no rain and all roads dry. Was good way to end the day...
Looks like u had a good trip. Can't go wrong riding in Colorado. You missed one fabulous road off the
bear tooth pass. The 296 at around the half way point is even better then bear tooth. If u ever get out
there again make sure that you do that one.
Adirondacks- Heading there on the 12 of sept with a few peeps - also Vermount - NH - tiny bit of Maine.
8 days - I just need 1 more rider. You have my number - give me a call.
Ohio - Kentucky - especially boone forest - it is just crazy roads. was in June.
Re: Buffalo to Ellicottville .. 219 or 240 or...?
Part way down the 219 has many twisty roads - I just can't remember the route I took. You just need to find them.
Someone on site posted up a route a couple of years ago and it was fab. Was on the West side of 219.
Zoar Valley road was the start.
Ohio is one of my Fav places to ride. Go down about twice a year . Roads are amazing like Shane said. WV has tons of great roads. You can't go wrong in that area. Even the mountain area's are full of great roads. (George Washington - Jefferson - Monongahela Mountains)
Don't waste all your time on the BRP. The last 100 miles is more then enough and the best part of it. Just do the mountains all the way down. Way to many roads to list. Just look at Google map and you will see how far you can go.
Been in that area many times. You always bring rain suit. I had a week like that 2 years ago. Rain 6 of 7 days.
I am heading down on the 19th for 8 or 9 days. Need to check out some new roads.
Glad you enjoyed it even with the rain.
Most of the Good roads in PA can be done in 2 days. If you have a week to explore just head more south. Doesn't take long to hit WV and do tons of nice roads. Try to make a big loop out of it . You will find the north side of Superior is fantastic ride. The south side is so boring and flat and...
Was there on the weekend (May 9 - 10 ) Roads were in pretty good shape - Traffic is not a problem. 2 days will get you on tons of nice twisty roads.
Just leave very early. Wykoff Road says closed - but it is open - they have a small bridge that is dirt filled to cross - that's it.
Take the 99 north to 97 over to Kamloops
Head north on 5 to 16 and then east right into Jasper
Take the 93 south to Banff and the 1
1 over to Kananaskis Trail and south
Work your way from there to Glacier National
Park Kootenai National Forest -
Have a look at the 37 (need to bring it up a...
Re: Guatemala or...?
Great pics - That train you had some lunch or dinner at - I passed that couple of years ago when I did that area. You were in on the Steven's canyon road (Mount Rainer). I did that with some friends from Seattle. It is a really wicked road and some great scenery. Keep up...
Seeing as you are doing a couple of Hwy days - when you get to Rapid City
Turn south on the 16. - 22 miles south take the 16A - you are now in
custer state park . Just look at the road. I think about 200k of fab roads.
This will give u a change of pace for a day. Then make sure u do the 385...
Mac - if your boy has better seat and wind screen and risers - He won't have any trouble at all. You know me and that we are near same age. We did 2 days to Colorado - very easy - Then did a ton of riding out to San Diego. Now FJR with stock seat is like sitting on a brick after 400 or 500k. We...
Don't forget New Hampshire - white mountain area - The guys have given you tons of idea's. The best way is open Google up and find the nasty - twisty roads you can find and go do them. I have ridden in probably every state you mention on several occasions and not even come close to hitting all...
I have written about the South Eastern Ohio & West Virginia area before. It is half the distance to dragon.
Has to many nice roads to ride. So if looking for an area to ride for 4 or 5 days, head down and enjoy
the roads. They are just as good as the dragon area. I have done 3 small trips this...
Marietta is a great place for a base to ride out of. I did 4 days last week and then down again for another 4 days this past weekend and got home on Tues. Just to many roads to ride. West Virginia is right there. You only have to cross the bridge and you are in WV. Just look at google maps and...
