I base out of Marietta an ride from there. As some have suggested it is great riding in any direction from there.
I have done many trips down as it is close and don't take a long time to get there.
If you never been down then you are missing some great riding.
The Easiest IBA run of 1600 km is the Lake Ontario and Lake Erie ride. You have Hwy all the way and good speeds as well.
If you want an easy first run, this is the one to do it on.

Damage was where the bead is on rim. Was pushed out on rear tire so far was surprised it would hold air. On the other side of rear was one that was a bit smaller. The 3 on front were smaller but couldn't believe the damage. Happened during the night on rally.
Wonderings - that pic is the 28 just outside Moab. Been there a few times. Its a great place to ride.
Slowbird - Very nice trip - couple years ago was in Boise and wild fires were terrible so headed to Colorado and Utah
and came home that way.

Rent the bike in Chaing Mai and not in Bangkok. Best advise given to you. I have friends doing this tour on Dec 27 - one of the guys has done it 3 times - he says it is a fab ride (his wife is from Thailand) He does the guided tour.
Take a look at Clayton Ga - north east section just across the border into GA. head west to Chattahoochee National Forest area -Also Clayton south to Toccoa Falls toward Gainsville area/ Is tons of great riding in those areas. Roads in those area's will keep you busy for more then a few days...
I forgot to add - You can take roads from Buffalo down to Georgia without having to hit hwys. Takes a bit longer but is great riding down and back.

Minden has many twisty roads if u know where to look & how to join them all up. Minden to Haliburton has some great roads. Large loop in Haliburton is good as well. If you head towards Bala and Port Carling there is tons of nice roads to ride up there as well.
