    MotoGP.com Video Pass

Last time I looked into it, it seemed that you can only stream the videos, you can't actually download them. Is this correct? My downloads would go through the roof if I had to stream every time I wanted to watch something as sometimes, I like to watch events more than once.

Pilot Road 3 tires malfunction and cause crash

I had pilot road 2's on my SV650 and I think I got about 27K on them. I now have Dunlop Roadsmarts (also the dual compound tyres). I only went with the Dunlops because no PR2's were available when I needed them. It's hard to compare because I upgraded the suspension when the PR2's were old (~22K...

    Is hypocrasy a life sentence?

hy·poc·ri·sy noun /hiˈpäkrisē/ hypocrisies, plural The practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense Hypocrisy is criticizing others and complaining about loud pipes WHEN you have loud pipes on your bike. However, if you had...

    Really? Highbeams during the day???

"the driver of a motor vehicle equipped with multiple beam headlamps shall use the lower or passing beam when, (a) approaching an oncoming vehicle within 150 metres; or" If your vehicle has multiple beams, the lower beam shall be used when within 150 metres of another vehicle.... my...

why does my bike get better range on 91 gas?

I may be mistaken, but I am pretty sure that both esso and petrocan do not have ethanol in any grade (i cannot vouch for the 94 octane though). At least I can't find the statement that ethanol is in the gas on the pump. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I hate ethanol. Grrr.

    Polarized sunglasses

That's funny, the oakley representative I talked to said the buzzword of "polarized" lenses is taken too far by sales people. I distinctly recall him saying that pilots are not allowed polarized lenses because they interfere with their vision. But I do not recall if this was due to the LCD...

We keep bashin cagers but what the eff is wrong with some riders?

It is unfortunate that the type of people who like to go fast, do stupid and immature things and have a general disregard for others (including those within their own community) have an affinity for fast bikes. It is even more unfortunate that those types of riders stick out in the minds of...

Changed back brakes, no longer functioning.

Remove the pads and observe the pistons? If the pistons barely move, I would look to bleeding the brakes. Also, it is possible to "bleed the brakes" and still have air in the system.

    License plate positioning

Find the highway traffic act and look it up. It specifically states what is allowed in Ontario. Failing that, if you can't read the plate from 10ft back it is probably illegal.

What tax is payable on a private trade?

If you want to get technical, I think you pay tax on the value of goods exchanged which includes cash and any other items with an associated value. If you and the seller agree your bike is worth 5 grand, and you add another grand on top of that, you did not buy the bike for $1000, but rather...

Buying a motorcycle from Ontario - Help!!

You are wrong. At least, in Ontario, if the ministry feels the price is incorrect, both seller and buyer will be contacted. Besides, it is tax evasion. I don't understand how people condone putting such drastic examples of reduced purchase prices on "bills of sale." If you try that with...

How many KM's on the engine have you seen?

A friend at work has a DL650 (which he bought the first year it was available) and he is over 100k now. I have exactly 45,900kms on my 07 SV650 (which I got in 2008). The engine stills runs strong enough for me. A few years ago there was a guy on svrider with 116k miles on his SV. I have a...

Interesting Technology from M-Benz (leave it to the Germans)

I was riding today and noticed at a stop light that a Mercedes Benz SUV had a little yellow light in its driver side mirror. As I went to pass the SUV, I noticed that when I entered the driver's blind spot, a little red light appeared. I realized that some MB SUVs have a radar with blind spot...

    Very upsetting global news segment

Considering the various ways this could be presented, I though it was a well done piece. They obviously included various members of the motorcycling community. I agree that there may be other "more valuable" stories to present to the general media that would benefit our community better (like...

6 Things Nobody Tells You About Owning a Motorcycle

The red light sensors are adjustable. I read (on the internet, I think on this forum) that you can contact the appropriate department at the city and schedule a calibration where a crew comes and sets the sensitivity so the bike will trigger it. I have never called in, mostly because I just...

Chain broke while going 110 on I 75 south of Toledo.... why does this happen

my guess (considering no photos): chain snaps, presumably on the top loop. release of tension causes the free end at the front to fly forwards, jamming the front sprocket to the transmission output, thus locking it. i can kind of visualize a rear wheel spinning at the appropriate rpm for the...
