I'm on my third season with the Alpinestars SMX-2. I got the waterproof model and they are great. They offer decent protection and are comfortable to walk in. So far other than losing a toe slidder they are holding up well. Should get another couple years out of them easily.

The 2011 still has the round headlights. Not sold on the new style but wouldn't pass on the bike just because of them either.

I commute on my Triumph Daytona. About 20 kms each way and in Ottawa rush hour it takes about 30-40 mins depending on traffic. Gas mileage is better than my cage : P and while it's not the most comfortable it certainly isn't an issue.

Not unusual at all. Releasing the bike before they've received payment leaves them vunerable. Depending on the amount of the repair, you could always pay the bill yourself and when the cheque gets issued (it's normally co-payable to you and the body shop) just have them sign it over to you...

Just a quick update on my Factory Alarm. Had it installed a number of weeks ago and so far so good. Does everything it's supposed to and so far hasn't gone off in error yet. It's integrated into the tach so the alarm light is lit when it's armed. Much better than the aftermarket one I had...

The first alarm was a Phantom X (think it's based in Quebec). For some reason, the proximity sensor wasn't detected by the bike on a number of occasions and that would set off the alarm when I tried to start the bike. The came out a number of times, replaced the battery in the sensor, rerouted...

If you go to the Triumph675 forum you'll see lots of posts on this. Seems a few bikes do but oil, but the majority don't. A lot of blame/questions on the break in method. I've got a 2008 and not a drop burnt.
