One option is to take the bike to Markham Outdoor Power. They have two excellent techs there. One of which knows those ST's very well and has been working on Hondas for a loooong time. I had the pleasure of working beside him for almost 5 years :)

I agree but "slightly" out of sync is so difficult to get nailed down with the common carb sync tool. You rev the engine and let it come down and the readings are off again.

Why bother syncing carbs, it doens't do much. Unless the idle is totalllllly lumpy and out to lunch edit: sorry that doesn't justify your experience though, not at all.

The tires were on my bike for 2500 kms. They still have their profile, all street use with the pressures fairly high heat cycling isn't an issue. There is another 2500 kms left easy if you would like them you can have them for cheap, 50 bucks. Rosso Corsa, not the regular Rossos. 120/70/17...

If I could get a dollar for every time I took a bike that was complaining about their custom tune and set all fields to zero and customer leaves perfectly happy saying it runs INCREDIBLE never to have a problem again ;)

As for the original post about Markham Outdoor Power. I have to side with the dealer on this one, and its not because I worked there for 5 years as a mechanic. If you look at all the Honda dealers that disappeared and the fact that this one is still there and doing well they must be doing...

I too remember that incident helping pull the motor out and put it back in. To be fair at the time Yamaha DID offer to help out, they were willing to pay for parts since it was just out of warantee and he would pay for labour. But it would involve delivering the bike to a yamaha dealer and...
