How to react to a fallen biker

Rmemedic: I was told that at a motorcycle accident it's important to leave the helmet on the fallen rider and let the paramedics/doctors remove it. Obviously if you need to start CPR you aren't going to be able to do so with someone in a full-face helmet. What would be the procedure there?

Just got pulled over - reason: my helmet

Actually ECE and BSI are two different standards. The British version complies with SNELL and ECE standards which is why it's approved here in Ontario. Here is the BSI kitemark you should see on the helmet if it's roadlegal:

Rider down on 401 at bathurst this morning

I heard about this just before leaving for work this morning. I hope that the rider isn't too badly hurt as well.

potential new rider. insurance with prior tickets?

Go to the MTO and purchase a driver's abstract. This will tell you exactly what the insurance company will see. This will give you a better idea on what you will be facing. Also, it would still be possibile to write the M1 and move on to the M2 which is valid for 5 years. If your abstract...

Monster 620 - girl wants to upgrade from CBR125R

I have no idea about the bike, but for a speedo, have you considered mounting a GPS to her bike and using the speedo on that instead of replacing the entire cluster? It would be a less expensive option and would be helpful when in unfamiliar areas.

    Road Rage

LOL. Opps! I guess this show's how important knowing proper grammar is! It's only one boyfriend but the idea belongs to him.

    Road Rage

Much to my boyfriends disgust, I can let things "slide" while either riding or driving. The angriest thing I've ever thought was "idiot" and roll my eyes at their stupidity. However I don't get worked up about it, I don't wish them harm or wish to do them physical harm when they do something...

Time to raise a Little Awareness

If you want to help raise awareness and pay tribute to those who have fallen because of careless driving, why not treat the ride more like a huge funeral procession to highlight the likely outcome of a collision between cars and bikes. Riders could have have pictures of as many fallen riders as...

    Fun Route to Tobermory

While I don't know a good route to take to Tobermory, I can help with a couple tips for longer rides. Drink lots of water before, during and after the trip. It's easy to get dehydrated, especially in this hotter weather. Get off the bike once in a while to stretch out a bit. If you have...

How is your bikes fuel Economy?

With my Vulcan 500 with mostly in town riding (about 20% of my riding is on the 401 during morning rush hour traffic, so pretty much stop and go here as well!) I'm consistently getting these stats: 4.36 litres per 100 km 53.9 miles per US gallon 64.74 miles per Imperial gallon (the proper...

Bike stalls, then won't turn over

Check your spark plug connections as well. My bike has done something very similar like that to me recently and when I pressed/wiggled the spark plug caps they were a bit loose.

What percentage of your riding is purely for leisure?

Hmm, I ride to work every day from April until November (unless the snow flies during that time) but I love riding and enjoy every moment of it. Surely this would be considered leisure as well since it's so enjoyable? However I voted that between 61-70% (maybe should have increased that to...

    '09 Kawasaki Vulcan 500

I honestly don't know when they changed the battery connections, however I was told this was an issue with the 500's on a Vulcan forum when I was having the problems and it was confirmed when I brought the bike into Kahuna's for repairs as I didn't know what was going on.

    '09 Kawasaki Vulcan 500

I started riding a '06 Vulcan 500 last year and I absolutely love the bike. It's easy to handle in the city and on the highways and is great on gas. I filled up last night at 203km and it took 9.11L. mostly with in-town riding and the occasional short trip on the highway, so that works out to...
