    Rail Style Trailer...

has anyone secured the bike to trailer as per the pictures? It seems very flimsy to me. Looks like going this route will involve welding / bolting some tie-down points to this frame.

Tire Fix Motorcycle Air Pressure Gauge on sale at CTC

The valve stems on my Sprint are at 90º angles, so this does not work. I've been using this analog gauge for the past 2 years, with great results -- got it for something like $20 IIRC. The bleed valve is really useful.

Hmm... sounds interesting, I'm in pending availability

Bike Barn, cycleshell, Ride Inn or other

I bought the bike barn this fall .. assembly is a bit of a pain, and the whole thing needs to be weighed down in order not to be blown away by the wind. I currently have mine weighed down using 2 cinder blocks but it still seems to move a bit.

how many people wear back protectors?

One of the best back protectors you can buy. I have one and love it! Where did you get this number from? Unless other factors have a pronounced effect (such as decreased linear coefficient of friction at higher speeds etc), applying the laws of motion results in a stopping distance that is...

Where is the best place to park a bike by the Ferry dock?

You should be fine to park there, I've never seen a bike ticketed there.

    $350,000 Bike

Nice bikes, but I would have expected to see the Neander diesel bike in that list as well ... http://www.neander-motors.com/motorcycle.html

    Triumph Sprint ST 1050

I guess I'm the exception to this rule, as my bike insurance is provided as a courtesy. Try Economical ... my rate is peanuts on an '09 ST ABS. Weird thing is, they blacklist the RS.

    Triumph Sprint ST 1050

Let me know when you're in the GTA, you can try my bike out anytime :) Though I'm away this coming week and the last week in August (right before labour day). GP Bikes also allows test rides on Triumphs and Ducatis. Exhaust was getting pretty hot, but changing to the D&D pipes and getting rid...

    VFR 800 opinions?

If you're checking out the competition, look at the Triumph Sprint ST, in my (biased) opinion it is a better all-around bike. Cheaper to buy, cheaper and funner to own ;) It also won Motorrad's 50k endurance test in 2007. ABS is an option I'd recommend for it. More recent models ('07 and up I...

Yamaha Demo Tour @ Brampton PowerSports Aug 13

While I'm glad to see the FZ6R and FZ8 on the list, i'm disappointed at the lack of WR250X, as well as the new Super Ténéré. I was really hoping to get up close and personal with the WR250X :(

Caledon Motorcycle sound level testing - July 6

No, in fact I graduated with high marks. You however, fail to distinguish between a warning (which you eloquently define) and a police warning / caution, something you infer in your posts.

    Thumb pain

One other thing to check is that your gloves fit well. Sometimes if the glove fingers are too short, it can lead to discomfort similar to what you're describing, or even numbness if longer term.

Caledon Motorcycle sound level testing - July 6

Someone had a dose of paranoia in their coffee this morning? They can't warn you for something that isn't illegal yet. Other than the friendly "I'd watch out with those pipes once the law goes into effect. You can get a ticket if you're pulled over in Caledon".

Suck it up and ride or take a refresher course?

I disagree with most of the views in this thread. If your only riding experience is the M1X course over 3 years go, I would say you have forgotten most (if not all) of the most important things that are taught in that course -- especially given your low-speed mishap (the cause of which I would...

It was my understanding that significant savings are available if one driver insures two vehicles (with no other drivers in the household). i.e., if I have two identical cars I pay just a bit more than what I would pay for one (and a lot less than double). Whereas, if I had two identical...

How is this possible... insurance for WR250X double that for Sprint ST???

I didn't have to. They blacklist the Sprint RS, not the ST.

How is this possible... insurance for WR250X double that for Sprint ST???

I think it's closer to $450/yr, but in that ballpark. This is for full coverage with Economical (after roughly 50% or 55% in various discounts -- group, multi-vehicle, and multi-line). I know it's cheap, and it's been triple checked already -- I've been told everything is correct (despite the...

How is this possible... insurance for WR250X double that for Sprint ST???

Imagine my surprise when I found out that insuring the Yamaha WR250X 250cc I'm interested in will cost double the Triumph Sprint ST 1050cc I already have a policy for ... what gives? WR250X yearly amt came out to roughly $850 / year -- is this considered an average and/or decent amount to pay...

If the explanation holds true, then premiums for cars should be calculated the same way, no? Why isn't this the case? Why does this discrepancy exist between car and bike insurance?
