I haven't read the rules but what if your average speed was higher than posted speed limits. Does that disqualify you? Obviously getting pulled over would take a big chunk out of your time.
Congrats! Something I've always wanted to do as well. I'm assuming taking the 100kph speed limit highways are a must to achieve the distance/time. How many times did you stop for breaks?
The google offline maps only got introduced this year. Once i email the link to myself and launch it on my phone, it asks me if I want to download the route for use offline. I still keep OsmAnd installed as a back up and have had to use it from time to time.
I have also found that Google maps...

Warning: the video doesn't show any gore but there is a fallen rider in full frame towards the end of the video.
Don't know the aftermath but I couldn't find an article on it.
I plot my route on Google maps on a computer. I email a link of the route to myself and pull it up on my phone. Google maps now allows you to download your route in case you travel to areas with no coverage. Only problem i found is that if I accidentally close the app half way thru the ride, it...
I'm using a Sena 10U in my helmet. 2 riding buddies use the Sena 20S. I have not personally tried the 20S but there are two features on the 20S i wish my intercom had.
1. Ambient mode - This directs outside noise into your speakers. Great for talking to someone like a gas station attendant.
2...
Lets see some pics from the weekend!!
We hit the road at 5:00am on July 2. Weather was great. Got cloudy for an hour or two but was sunny most of the way.
We took Northey's Bay Road as recommended by shanekingsley which was awesome. We explored the Petroglyphs park just off of the road...
I was told that there is a 5% chance that my eyes would need another surgery in the future but it is different for everyone. My prescription has not changed in the past 10-15 years.
While glasses and riding don't pose any real issue, the freedom of not having to clean my glasses, worry about...
Not sure if this counts as "touring bits" but how about laser eye surgery? I had a light prescription but it's bad enough for me to have to wear glasses while riding/driving. Glasses makes the pinlock on my helmet completely useless as even though the visor didn't fog, my glasses did.
I had no...
Won't be joining this one but you might want to consider Deep Bay Road off of 35 once you reach Moore Falls. It's quite nice and doesn't add much time as you can get right back on 35 at Minden.
I'd take a look at the sticky http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?110354-Re-The-best-roads-routes-in-Ontario-Quebec-U-S
The Peterborough North section might be a good start or start with Shane's Peterborough north route and add to it. https://goo.gl/maps/oaEU4Zmkce52
Did HWY...
I would love to but it's really tough for me to get out for longer rides. Even with this ride, the original plan was to get up to Dorset before heading to Haliburton but I had to cut that out in order to keep the ride to under 6.5 hours (including stops). Calabogie unfortunately, will need much...
Another roadside surprise in Haliburton.
I had to u-turn for this one.
Off of Hwy 507, there are a lot of Fire Access Roads. I took Fire Route 300 between Gooderham and Catchacoma just out of curiosity. Just two tire tracks with knee high grass on either sides of the tracks. Combined with...
Deep bay road is just off of Hwy 35 at Moore Falls. It reconnects to Hwy 35 at Minden. Great riding road.
This guy appeared in the middle of the road as I approached Minden
Saw this on the side of the road. Decided to stop
Cool views of the rapids without any walking
To start off, big thanks to Shanekingsley for the "Best Roads" thread. I use that thread in a lot of my route planning.
Taking longer motorcycle trips is getting more and more difficult as there's just too much stuff that needs to be done during the weekends with a young child at home. I...
