This is very true, if you don't sell the bike, cancel your insurance, then reinsure, they may assume you have been riding uninsured and you will pay accordingly. Because that's what too many people are actually doing, cancelling after they get an insurance slip.

I had a DRZ400s and I found it to be a mediocre street bike and trail bike. Not having a 6th really hurts the bike. If you gear it down for the woods, it really limits the top end on the road. its also very top heavy and the seat is one of the worst on any bike ever.

I have heard one of those with an after market pipe, it sounded awful. Save your money.

I only ever buy mint, low mileage bikes when I buy used, but I am patient. Lots of people buy brand new bikes and never ride them. Lots of good deals out there if you take your time.

One thing to keep in mind is seat height. Both the DRZ400 and WR250 are very tall bikes. It may seem ok sitting on it or riding on the road, get off road and if you just learning, it's a long way to fall.

This bike is made in India. So there is no reason why it shouldn't be cheap. But I doubt it will be as reliable as a Japanese bike.
