Ride and Fly BC - 16 day options to ride the west coast

Having just done this, count on $800 for flight+taxes+insurance for the bike, and the dangerous goods doc was $140. If you can get the DG doc done $50, give us the deets! Anyway, nice route. However, you have so much time, what about heading up to Dawson City, YT (if half the continent isn't...

    Michelin Pilot Road 4's

Riders Choice in Mississauga is pretty good for tire pricing; I generally find they're not far off of Pete's Superbike+shipping, plus they can do the install.

I am looking for information on European motorcycle tour packages.

+1 for IMT Bikes. I rented from their Madrid office a couple winters ago, and they were awesome to work with.

    Regina, Deluth, or Minneapolis route?

One big benefit to the Duluth route is being able to stop by Aerostich. Get sized up for a suit, buy some accessories, etc. Aerostich has free return shipping on ill-fitting mail-ordered clothing, unless there's the US/Canada border involved.

Where are you headed in 2015?

With the Air Canada Cargo sale going on, I think a lot of people should be re-evaluating their 2015 plans to include some far away destination. I'm toying with the idea of flying the beemer over with me to Germany in September, because once that sale is over, I won't be dropping the $$$$ to fly...

Where are you headed in 2015?

Yes, but you pay all year long for your 3 vehicles. That $300/month is only when you're over there on vacation. Still a better deal than $1000/week on a rental. It is also possible you can get a better deal if you find your own green card insurance. I saw some good deals out of Belarus, but...

    I Saw You: V.2.0

Oddly, I haven't seen any snowmobiles commute to work in Toronto. Guess I need to get out more. Do they also get free streetside parking?

    Anyone miss riding yet?

I don't judge those that don't ride in winter. At the same time, I don't agree that riding in winter has to be uncomfortable. You don't have to be "hardcore" to do it, whatever that means. If you miss riding in winter, there are plenty options to widen your riding season. Not riding in...

Recommendations for GPS units and mounting options

I was pretty curious about the integration between the Nav 5 and the LIN bus enabled BMW bikes. However, from my initial research (totally not confirmed BTW) was its lack of a wired headphone cable coming off the base; it seemed like the audio contacts from the Zumo were repurposed for the...

    Multiple accessory hookups?

Not that it helps much, but it is $210 at http://www.aviciouscycle.ca/mainpages/productpage.aspx?product=7658 I know, it is a lot of money considering the non-computerized options. I've been holding off on buying one for the DL650 as a result. That said, I really like the unit on my BMW...

    Multiple accessory hookups?

I like the PDM60, http://pdm60.com/. Bit expensive, but solid state and programmable for Amps per circuit, turn-on and shut-off delay after ignition, etc. Rumour has it they'll be releasing a new version this year with automatic low-battery shutdown too. It has two power trigger lines; one...

Headed North - The Lemonade Tour

Did any gas station attendants give you grief when trying to fill the bag?

Where are you headed in 2015?

Yeah. I think my Pearson interview was weeks out, but it nicely pointed out that I could get an interview at the Niagara Falls office the next day. They even took me before my appointment in NF, ended up finishing before my official interview was scheduled to start.

when does every one stop riding??

When I rode to Winnipeg to do some work, my coworkers there didn't cared about the motorcycle, thought it was a quaint hobby; they were all looking forward to snow so they could start their snowmobile season.

    Anyone miss riding yet?

Exactly why I bought a beater DL650 for winter, so I don't need to care if we have another long winter or not. I felt guilty every time I took my K1300S out last winter in all the salt, and I refused to feel that way again!

Where are you headed in 2015?

The Blackbird still has Ontario plates on it, so you can get monthly Green Card insurance for it, only when you need it (ie, you're heading over for vacation). After the bike has been over there a year, insurance seems to hit about CAD300/month, but what can you do? Considering rental bikes...

Where are you headed in 2015?

This coming year is in flux for me. I just accepted a new job, and there's going to be a lot of travel within Canada. I'm thinking of riding the DL650 across to Calgary or Vancouver in the spring. The plan is to store it out there somewhere so when I only have time to fly out, I'll a bike...
