    What year is your R1200GS?

The people who put the bike away already.

Well, my-workspace.ca didn't get that memo, as they're trying rental workshops again. Each workshop garage comes with $1000 in coverage, and you can bump it up at $3 for $1000 coverage chunks. Note, they don't cover vehicles, as they should have their own insurance.

I'm way way way behind on your trip report (just reading about NYE in Spain last year!).. I don't suppose you two were thinking about Spain again this NYE? I'm toying with the idea of renting a motorcycle and riding down along the coast from Barcelona for the week surrounding NYE.

Shared Wrenching Spaces for the Winter in Downtown Toronto?

I'm envisioning Dexter's kill room here. The damage deposit on a workshop unit is $200 ($25 if it is only a storage unit). Unit comes with $1000 of insurance, and you can bump it up in $1000 steps for $3/month each step. I agree, it sucks if you have to leave the bike behind. I already...

Shared Wrenching Spaces for the Winter in Downtown Toronto?

To expand on that, heated floors, electrical outlets and your own breaker panel, insulated garage door, 24/7 access, security on your unit.

Hrmph! I've had the TKC80's down to about -16c and they worked well. I've had the Heidenau K60 Sport M+S' down to about -24c, and they work well down to about -18c before they get pretty hard. Emergency braking at -24c is entertaining; you'll come to a stop, but there'll be a couple black...

The people who put the bike away already.

DL650's are cheap and make for nice winter beaters. Heidenau K60 Sport M+S help improve your mortality margin. gen5 VFR800's too, really. Throw on a set of TKC80's and go nuts. My old VFR800 survived 175000km over 5 years, including 5 glorious winters accounting for about 16000km with no...

Shared Wrenching Spaces for the Winter in Downtown Toronto?

It is not downtown, but check out my-workshop.ca I just rented a 10x20 workshop, and I'm super jazzed.

    First snow in mississauga !!

Unfortunately, the Silica (winter) version doesn't have a sportbike size or a DL650 size. I think they do have the stock KLR650 sizing though!

    How high-milage is YOUR bike?

Learn to hate your car (assuming you have one), and find every excuse and reason to use your motorcycle for work, for home, for hitting the movie, for getting groceries. You'll hit 30000km/year easy. In the past 16 months, I've managed to keep my car's usage down to about 900km, while I've...

    First snow in mississauga !!

Just look at the sidewalls of the TKC80's and you'll find M+S. I didn't know they were M+S until a year after I started using them. Suddenly, their brilliant performance on black ice made sense!

    First snow in mississauga !!

Absolutely. They're mud+snow (M+S) rated, and I've found they're good even on black ice, not that I recommend you deliberately go out riding on black ice. Sport-touring tires (like Z6's, PR2's) were ..okay on concrete down to about -10c, but rubbish on black ice or snow over 1cm deep. I can't...

Yup! I just put a set of TKC80's on the VFR and was out riding when the snow started to fall.

    How high-milage is YOUR bike?

I had 187000km on my VFR800 when it finally blew off another R&R in Germany. I sold it for parts in Eastern Europe and moved on. Of course, 3 bikes later, I bought another VFR800. Yeah, I probably should have kept that other one. Love the gen5's.

Motorcycle gear - Who wears all black?

I wear all black (boots, pants, jacket, gloves, helmet, socks, underwear, etc etc etc), and now my main bike is black, with a dark tinted windscreen and a black topbox. The only time I've ever been hit in the last 250,000km was when the driver and I were both stopped, in broad daylight in...

You don't actually need to get your bike weighed. The DG consultant can leave that blank, and AC will weigh it themselves. Fortunately, AC Cargo is very flexible. Through a miscommunication, the DG consultant put the wrong destination city and destination contact address on my paperwork. AC...

Their special is just between certain cities, and Halifax isn't one of them. I believe Montreal, Pearson, Calgary, and Vancouver are the primary sale locations. One of the requirements for the sale is the availability of a wide-body jet. For instance, there is only one daily between Pearson...
