Currently in the process of getting quotes from 6 brokers and companies.
He just took my other quotes and slashed them in half. I'm talking $1000-1500 off every quote. Definitely recommend.
I'll be honest, I still haven't seen one in the flesh so maybe they do look nicer than i think. What year is yours?
I might have to take you up on your offer! That's very generous of you.
Really? Just looked it up online and the FZ6 has the i4 motor... Won't that make insurance skyrocket for me considering that a supersport engine? I will definitely keep an eye out but I was concentrating on Vtwins because I heard the inline 4s are super expensive to insure.
My biggest issues with the 250 class is my height. After 40 mins on my buddy's 300, I was feeling very cramped. Not cuz I'm super tall, but because I have very long legs.
Of those 1000 kms, only 20kms or so were on the 400 series. It was all back roads and seeking out twisties (Forks of the...
Yeah i have the advantage of being rather thin (180 lbs, 6'3"), so shocks aren't usually an issue. Shock heights however are a very good point i didn't think about as a good mod for an SV.
And yeah, we are SOL especially cuz we both have 36" legs. Thats the toughest thing but lucky for me i...
Thank you so much. This is exactly the response I was looking for. I think i'll be looking more at the SV650 and Vstrom... although to be honest even the ninja 400 isn't too bad.
I didn't believe for a second that it was gonna be more than $3000 cuz I'm 24 and I've done both MSF courses plus...
I've heard Dalton Timmis time and time again so i would definitely give them a call. The only reason I even asked this question is to figure out if its worth pursuing riding (on one of those bikes) this season. I will not accept paying $300 a month. $200 is definitely reasonable to me but a...
Why the major distinction between FZ6 and FZ6R? It just so happens that 90% of the FZ6's on kijiji are all R models.
I will definitely try my best to soften my feel on the VStrom then... same motor anyways
So think theres any chance I can get around $2000 considering I'm under 25? $1200 a year sounds awesome but i understand you were over 25. I guess I also need to decide based on basic or full coverage too....
Yeah I'm torn because I love dirt bikes, but 400 is about my top end... after that they feel too heavy.
I have a 36" inseam so I assume it will be even worse for me. Although, did you ride the fairing or naked version? The naked has the handlebars instead of clip on so you can sit up more...
Thanks for the pointers. I've heard the case for fairings on the highway for sure. I meant I didn't like the look of them :P
I will definitely give it consideration! Thanks a lot for the input!
I have a soft spot for SMs because I rode dirt bikes when I was younger... So I'm quite familiar with them. But that is exactly what I was afraid of, "Unstable at highway speeds". As much as a DRZ would be fun from a hooligan perspective ripping up the suburbs, my weekly 45 min highway journey...
Are you sure?
I had a few friends tell me just having an M2 for a year makes your rates drop tremendously. I guess it only counts for a year of riding? Anyways, that's why I started my licensing so early.. so on paper now I've had my M2 for almost 3 years and my M for almost a full year...
Ah yes,
I did already look into that. Pretty much my dream *affordable* bike right now. I checked and the insurance would only be about $200/year more than an SV650 but you can only find 2015s for obvious reasons. I was looking to spend about $4000 on my first bike and a 2007-2009 SV650 falls...

Yeah I've had those suggested to me a few times. I'm not too interested in them tbh (mostly because I am not a fan of fairings at all).
I do understand that they would be a good compromise, but again, won't the insurance be roughly the same as the SV650?
