I think you can only go through this approach if it was your buddy who knock over your bike. If he claim insurance, it would be dealer repaired with all brand new geniune OEM parts. If the cost of repair is higher than market value of the bike, the insurance company will just cut him a cheque...

I never parked there during the day, only some weekend night meets as a stop over spot but not since all the construction that had been going on in that area.
