Forks of the credit road to Guelph question.

Meh. Speed bumps might also solve their noise issue, since I've noticed that a lot of cruisers would bottom out on the bumps. I usually speed up a bit when I see them, just to see how much air I can catch. :P

wtf is wrong with old people in cars?

Tell me about it. I nearly got taken out last night on Highway 9, just east of Shomberg. Freakin' 20 Something guy, behind the wheel of his mom's minivan, driving towards me on my side of the road. After laying on my loud horn and flashing my highbeams at him, he finally woke up and got back...

Motorcyclist dies in train collision near Caledon

Re: RIP Caledon rider Wow, RIP rider. I can see how this could happen, those tracks are used so infrequently that even the locals wouldn't think to look before crossing. The passenger service generally only seems to run on the weekends and mostly in the autumn.

insurance wants receipts of repair bill

I had an accident a few years ago that cosmetically wrote the bike off. They paid out the full value less the salvage amount. I bought the bike off of them. The bike hadn't been branded at all. The bike had been written off, but it only took $900 in parts to fix it up to a point where a cursury...

    DRZ vs Turkey

I hit a turkey hen with my bike a few years ago. I was doing 120kmph on a back road when the stupid bird flew out of the woods right in front of my bike. It panicked when it saw me and turned and tried to fly away from me. I caught it in the arse with my front forks. What followed was an...

    Gaspe trip

I've mapped out the route and have checked the ferry schedule. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of doing this trip. :D

    Gaspe trip

Since I originally read this thread, I've been thinking about going around Gaspe again (on a 2 wheeled bike this time). My plan would be to take 401, to Hwy 20 (past Quebec), take 132 along the south shore, go all the way around the peninsula, through Gaspe, Perce, Newport, Nouvelle. And then...

    Gaspe trip

Even though I was on a Ural, Hwy 132 was pretty fast. I did 132 from the New Brunswick border, counter-clockwise, all the way around to Quebec city. You just have to slow down in the villages. Like Ron said, 132 is the main street of most of the cities, towns and hamlets on Gaspe. But what...

    Restaurant on Hockley Valley Road

I haven't been there either since the change of ownership (quite a few years ago). But it used to be one of my favorite restaurants.

    Purchasing a insurance write-off

I was in an accident a few years ago and the bike was written off, but since ALL of the damage was cosmetic, the bike didn't get branded. I bought it off the insurance company for $1,600 and spent $900 fixing it up and then sold it, certified, the next season for something like $2500. The only...

Non GTA sportbike riders: Where you from?

Couldn't vote. Not in the GTA, but my 'hood wasn't on the list.

We WERE all set to start the motorcycle lifestyle...

+1 on the good advice here. For my 2cents, I'd suggest that when you do get a bike, don't get a bike that your average thief would not want to steal. Something used, dirty and unpopular would be your best bet to avoid finding your parking spot empty one morning.

Helmets for people with giant melon heads (like me)?

Back in the day, I was able to squeeze my melon in a 3/4 Bell open face helmet, just like the one in the picture. It was in white. Looked kind of like the Great Gazoo from another post. hahaha

    Motorcycle parking in manhattan NY

I stayed in Manhattan a couple of years ago. The hotels don't have their own parking, even the parking lots underneath them are contracted out. I didn't know that when I got there and after the third try I found a parking lot 7 blocks from my hotel that let me park the bike and leave it there...

Helmets for people with giant melon heads (like me)?

L? XL? Giant???? I thought I was going to be able to help but my head is giant, try a Shoei XXXL in a full face. Very slimming, especially since they only come in black.

Hell just froze. Heading to Harley-Davidson dealership tonight.

Cool looking bike OP. Congrats!! I recently remembered that I always liked the Electric Glide when I was a kid and didn't know any better. But damn, those cops could sure ride the snot out of them. And I have been thinking about the whole Harley/Sportbike thing lately. My current ride is an...

    North Shore of Lake Superior

I will be heading that way, leaving early on July 19th, on my way to Vancouver, with my son on the back of the bike. So I can be company on one part of the trip, but my schedule calls for me to be in Thunderbay at the end of the second day. I'm not sure if that is going to work though...

    Can am spyder

Here's my 2 cents. I put 27,000kms on a Ural in a year and a half. And like the Spider it was the worst of both worlds, but it was still a 'real' motorcycle with a heavy steel sidecar attached. My son and I did a trip to the East Coast with the Ural loaded down with camping equipment, tools and...

    Can am spyder

Lil Mel's user name is very fitting. A GS would be out of the question.
