Ride to Conquer Cancer (RCC) 2012: June 8-10

Well, not in a biblical sense Cat. Just in case people get the wrong impression. LOL Alas, Ural is gone. But this is my 4th time at this event. But it is such a blast to see so many people peddling 2 wheels for such a great cause.

Motorcyclist killed in crash north of Simcoe

RIP rider. +1 on the being careful and practicing emergency stopping. I almost ended a posting in this section on Sunday, when a mazda ran a side street's stop sign at 50kmph while I was entering the intersection on the non-signed main road.

March 2012: What condition are the northern roads?

Let me revise that. I went for a ride after work today. The rain must have done a job on Sunday night and Monday. I took Hockley at the same speeds that I would during the summer. Mono Centre Rd had visible dust in the centre of each lane and lots of mud/dirt/sand at the cross streets and...

March 2012: What condition are the northern roads?

I'm in Orangeville and at this time of year I have to ride like I'm on a cruiser. Slow in the corners, faster in the straights. Just way too much sand everywhere. I had the rear tire on the FZ1 slide out twice this weekend and I wasn't going very fast at all - actually well below the speed limit...

Did you un winterize/un store your bike today?

I didn't vote. Since I never winterized either bike. Road the DR to the January Bike show. Road the FZ1 to Toronto last Wednesday night.

Anyone interested in a ride through the Maritimes this summer 2012?

I'm going East this summer, but only for 1 week. I am currently planning on redoing a past trip around Gaspe. I doubt that I will have time to do Cape Breton Island again. I haven't set the route or the time yet.

Did not winterize sport bike this season

I've never winterized a bike. They have all been parked outside in an open sided car port. Only fill up the gas tank to cut down on condensation. Ride during the winter, whenever it is nice enough. The winters have been so mild lately that the bike usually gets ridden at least once a month all...

    FZ1 dual sport

I have ridden my FZ1 on un-maintained dirt roads/paths many times with street tires. Level and rutted but dry - no problems. Up Hills - rocks, rutted, dry, lots of power needed - no problems. Steep down hill sections - low end torque needed to keep from using either brakes - BIG TIME FAIL. But...

FREE TICKETS - GTAM at the Spring Motorcycle Show!!

Re: GTAM at the Spring Motorcycle Show!! Where to start...... I hope those boots are heat resistant, because they are resting on the f'ing exhaust. But that is okay, since she isn't going far, unless she has a throttle lock. :) Lastly, her eyes looking like that. I believe that she is trying...

    What'd you name your bike?

My ZR7s was named "FrankenTurkey" after I rear ended a flying turkey and spent the summer riding a custom pieced together naked bike. That was followed by a Ural (complete with sidecar), alternatively named, "The Gurl" or "The Carnival Ride". I then went from the Ural, that took at least 3kms to...

    Your favorite weekend/long weekend trips

Killarney is a good long trip for a weekend. Hit the great roads in Muskoka. Have some of the best fish & chips in Ontario. Lots of good places to stay or camp. One day up and one day back.

    Your favorite weekend/long weekend trips

I've always gone with a hard givi top case on every bike that I have owned for the last few years. It gives you a removable dry suitcase that can easily be removed and taken into the room at night or left locked to the bike, if you prefer. But the best reason for getting one, is that is also...

What did everyone buy at the show this weekend?

I didn't really have time to stop at the show. But I rode there on Saturday afternoon, didn't see anyone I knew in the parking lot. The bike parking was less than half full. I rode out the other side of the parking lot and made it home just before it started to snow. :p It was a good few hours...

6 degrees and sunny on Jan 6th!!

Didn't ride on Friday since I had to work. And it wasn't nice enough to ride, before or after work. But I did take the bike out on Saturday. Did a 140km ride down to Mississauga to run some errands. It is like Florida down there, compared to home. Stopped by the bike show, but didn't stay or get...

1981 Kawasaki LTD 550 - parts and such?

In 1982, I bought a 1978 KZ650. At the time, I remember reading an article that said that a 1979 KZ900 cost about $2,000 to buy new but it would cost a little over $20,000 to build it in parts. Good Luck.

Looking for info on a klr 650

You could always look at a Suzuki DR650SE instead of the KLR. It is supposed to be more dirt oriented than the KLR but will still do 140kmph on the highway. That is what I did. :p
