Highway Entrances + Tar Snakes + Middle Of Lane

The things with tar snakes is your bike reacts to them differently based on the tires you're using on your bike. Some brands and models of tires handle tar snakes a lot better than others. One of the first things I do after spooning on new tires I've never used before, is see how they handle tar...

how angry would it make you if other rider passed you in your own lane?

I think I did read the entire post. I'll repost it here for your convenience: I believe the bolded portions are what lead me to believe you were:1) going too slow in the passing lane, "120-ish" is too slow for the passing lane on 400 series highways; 2) you were napping as you didn't see the...

how angry would it make you if other rider passed you in your own lane?

So, you're in the left lane, doing 120-"ish"? and in the left side of the left lane? I'd have passed you too. Learn how to ride: 1) stop hogging the fast lane, 120-ish is too slow; 2) ride in the proper blocking lane, i.e. the right side of the left lane; 3) check your mirrors regularly...

    2015 Yamaha R1

I don't think I said an exhaust system can make an exhaust note sound like it's from a different bike than the one it's on, just that changing the exhaust on any bike in and of itself *will* change the sound of that motorcycle...by more than 1%. That could be louder, deeper, quieter, raspier...

    2015 Yamaha R1

No motorcycle ever been made that had the sound of the stock exhaust note change "1%" with aftermarket pipes. :p Though the firing order may create a certain note, it's the exhaust that let's it be heard a certain one way or another. ;)

    2015 Yamaha R1

Under tail has advantages as does under engine, but which ever of those two makes the sound of that growler better heard, that's the one they should go with: what an amazing, sexy sounding engine is that cross plane crank engine.:love4::headbang::jerk::happy6::male::thumbleft:

    Cleaning your chain.

Like a trillion other motorcycle owner-operators, I've used wd40 to *clean* my chains for decades and hundreds of thousands of miles to no ill effects. 20+K on a chain/sprocket set is a given if kept clean/rust free, and properly tensioned and aligned. Chain lube/wax? Never. Just keep it very...

    Today, I rode a Harley

Spoken like a person who's not owned either: Typical. Ignorance perpetuates myths and stereotypes. You need an eDUCATIon in motrcycling. lol...

Classic spec sheet/bang for buck rider.

    Today, I rode a Harley

LOL,,,did you even read what you wrote? ;) First you say you weren't impressed because it could "barely get out of its own way at 100-120 km/h", and then try to say you could care less about "spec sheets" and "lap times", which contradicts yourself. (You did notice the quotation marks around...

    Watch your six

Glad you're okay. Yet another stark reminder that we all take a big risk when we throw a leg over for the love of the sport, no matter how well we ride, due to distracted or just plain dumb drivers.

    Today, I rode a Harley

Ahhh, the eternal question. Why, can't a young, inexperienced, sport-bike rider appreciate or "get" Harleys? I make the brave assumptions you are young, a sport bike rider, and inexperienced which I'll qualify as either lacking time in the saddle, or experience with other types of mounts...

Bridgestone batt lax , is it me or the tire ?

Tire threads...so much fun. :p The bottom line is some tires work better for some riders on some bikes under certain conditions/roads for any number of reasons than others. A glowing endorsement from either a world class racer or weekend outlaw cruiser are equally unreliable in terms of picking...

BMW F800S anyone have any experience

Aspirational products out sell less aspirational products in hard times because the people who buy them are better heeled than most. That's why BMW sales were better in terms of higher percentages, not units, same can be said for Ducati, during the recession than the big four: the people who buy...

BMW F800S anyone have any experience

They must have come back then, because BMW, (and other Euro bikes) have been outselling Japanese brands for a while now. Oh right, I forgot: BMW out Japanese-ed the Japanese with their s1000rr in line four, and have the original and still considered best "adventure" bike in the world. :p Once...

Toronto Bike Store Services = crap

If anybody has ever worked retail, they know what a royal pain in the butt some customers can be. Some are just plain ignorant and others are just plain stupid, and it's usually the guy who wants to buy everything at 95% off who's the worst ignoramus of them all...after the sale. Over the...

Riding: Is it really worth it?

To paraphrase Steve McQueen, "Riding, (he said racing) is life. Everything else is just waiting." Life will surely be more mundane if one doesn't ride. That's not so much a "narrow view" as opposed to a credo, or a philosophy of what's important in one's life. If one is not as passionate as...

Riding: Is it really worth it?

The posing of this question is the answer you seek. Bye bye. Enjoy your boring, mundane life as a pedestrian or cager. I'll continue to look forward to another riding season, my 20th in a row, with as much anticipation as the first. When the time comes for me to hang up my leathers for good...
