Motorcycle thief goes down big time

Totally not fair for the kid to be paralysed for life over a few minutes of bad decision making. The bike he tried stealing was certainly not worth nearly as much to the owner or the market or the scarp yard. Life's not fair, I get that, but it just plain blows sometimes and this is one of them.

How do you guys ride on the weekends?

I haven't had a speeding ticket in 9 years. I do speed, but I try to pick my time and place with much more scrutiny than before. Cops everywhere is right. No totally safe spots anymore. Eventually, one passes a dopler patrol car going down his favorite, "safe" road where no cops are ever seen...

SIU investigation of motorcycle running from cops..

Speeders only instigate the speeding. Police officers instigate any pursuit. Not all speeeders are pusued. The police can pick and choose not only who they will puruse, but they also decide for how long they will pursue and at what speeds. When a pusuit has been started by a police officer, it's...

SIU investigation of motorcycle running from cops..

There is no pursuit, unless the police instigates it; there is just a speeder. The pursit stops when the police stops the pursuit, whether or not the speeder pulled over or not. The responsibilty of the pursuit, *ultimately* belongs to the police, whether to start or when to stop, independently...

SIU investigation of motorcycle running from cops..

The speed limit in Ontario on major highways was 120 km/h at one time in the 70's. Then it was lowered to 90 in the 80's. Now it's 100. I agree with raising the speed limits. Long overdue.

SIU investigation of motorcycle running from cops..

Without the police, there would be no high speed pursuit, just a speeder. I suggest the pursuit is far more dangerous at times than just a speeder. Like in the world of medicine, at times the "treatment" is worse than the cause of the pain, so it's better to deal with the discomfort than risk...

SIU investigation of motorcycle running from cops..

That's all well and go until an innocent party or multiple innocent parties are killed or maimed by the actions of the police in a high speed chase. The police need to take responsibility for escalating or even creating a very dangerous scenario through the choices of their policing...

At -a-glance dead give aways not HD: Shaft drives. No large primary cover clutch hump. (for big twins) Radiators with fined engines. Rear cylinder off-set. Twin "carbs"/air filter pods. Turn signals mounted on round bar under headlamp. Visible seam fuel tank. Swirling spoke pattern on stock...

What's your scariest moment on a bike

Or, use the 10/20% method. Pump tire to desired PSI as per manufacturer's recommendations. Make sure if using a gas staion air pump to purge the line of water beforehand. From cold tires, ride the bike until tires are warm. If they PSI goes up less than 10% frt/20%rr, reduce PSI until it goes up...

Planning a trip to Deal's Gap

Deal's Gap is probably the low light of the trip down there as there are so many great roads like the BRP, which is about 500 miles long, no stops, no commercial traffic, to name one. Then there are others that you can just discover in the back woods once you are down there. The Gap is an...

What's your scariest moment on a bike

Thin lines in the middle section of the tread running around the circumference of the tire's mid section is a design feature found on Michelin tires to help control static electricity build-up/discharge IIRC.

    My dealings with MikeyMoto

Just another misleading bike for sale ad listed by a D-bag in the GTA. What's the issue? Happens all the time. There is no shortage of D-bags selling bikes in the GTA, and no shortage of D-bag ads that mislead by omission. I flushed one out a few years ago myself, an obviously crashed bike...

Biker films himself going 140 kph over the speed limit

Speeding is speeding. One might have the charge discharged after pleading guilty with a reason. But that's up to a judge to decide, i.e. necessity of speed. Yes, it's an offense unless there is no oncoming traffic, and you don't go over the speed limit when you pass. Ummm...I don't cross...

Biker films himself going 140 kph over the speed limit

So, GPS can and would be used against you in some instances. Maybe doing 20 over might not be one, but, being pulled over some 15 minutes later because you fit the description from several motorists who called in about a recklessly speeding motorcyclist, and they might ask to see your gps data...

Yes, I agree, GoPros can come in handy to prove who's responsible for a collison. They're all the "rage" in places like Russia for that exact reason. But, that's a double edged sword. The recorded evidence could just as easily in some cases work against you, regardless of your best intentions...
