No, the Zero does not get green plates and therefore does not have single-rider access to HOV, and it is not eligible for the EV rebate given to cars either. I was recently in touch with the MTO regarding this, and got basically the same response.

Yes I realize this, the dealer quoted the cost of replacing the frame including labour and as I mentioned it (along with the other repairs) is about 20% of the retail cost of the bike. Bike is a 2015 with only a few hundred KM on it. I don't know what formula the insurance co's use to determine...

I'm curious why the Zeros aren't bigger sellers - is it the price or fears about the range that keeps people away? I sat on the Livewire at the bike show, thing was noisy and vibrated a lot (like a Harley). I don't get the appeal.

No actually I'm pretty sure it is due to the design of the automatic gates. The magnetic loops in the ground have a hard time picking up motorcycles (just like the ones at traffic lights), so there is a chance that the gate will come down as the bike is passing through. Buddy and I traded bikes a couple years ago. Lady at the MTO office told us we were not allowed to put $1 and we WOULD get a letter from the Ministry of Finance (not the CRA). We did it anyway, and paid $0.13 tax. Neither of us ever got a letter. Bikes were both less than 3 years old.

From what I heard about the Air Canada bike transport your luggage is supposed to be empty. Do they check, that's another question. I flew Southwest a few years back and Westjet this past Christmas with two full face in a duffel bag, didn't have any problems. No idea how that bag would fair...

Curious that I'm on Budd's email list and have got emails in the past but never got a notice about the demo day. I went in 2 years ago and expressed interest in a bike, was given the keys to go off and ride by myself for the next 90 minutes. Was very impressed.
